09.01.2022 Box Hill Chorale enjoyed a terrific first rehearsal for the year last night, with Maestro Wailes flying in from a month away in Europe just in time to start things off for the year. We also welcomed back Dean Sky Lucas at the piano as our brilliant accompanist, and a number of new members, who were visiting for the first time and who are all keen to be a part of what promises to be a massive year for BHC. Not to be missed! Later in the year, other major works will include Beethoven’s ‘Choral Fantasy’, Rutter’s ‘Requiem’, and of course Mahler’s epic ‘Symphony VIII’ (Symphony of a Thousand), alongside some of Australia’s finest choirs, superb international soloists, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Sir Andrew Davis. 04.01.2022 Box Hill Chorale celebrated the end of a wonderful year of music-making at Whitehorse Carols earlier tonight, in front of a huge and excited audience of thousands at the Whitehorse Civic Centre. There were performances from iconic carols entertainers Marina Prior, David Hobson and Michael Cormick, with David Cameron on piano, as well as stirring items from the combined Churches of North Blackburn, the Box Hill City Band and of course Box Hill Chorale, accompanied by Sam Hart...ley and conducted by Andrew Wailes. Next year promises to be an exciting year for Box Hill Chorale, with performances of major works by Beethoven, Brahms, Rutter and Mahler on offer, as well as local festivals and regional performances. A highlight will be Mahler's epic 8th Symphony with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in October. BHC looks forward to welcoming new members in 2020, and encourages anyone interested in being part of a great community choir, to come along in late January when rehearsals resume.
