16.01.2022 Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, As I'm sure you are now aware, the Victorian Premier has announced a five-day lockdown, including a prohibition on any public gatherings. It's with a heavy heart then that I need to confirm that Session has decided that we will not be gathering for worship tomorrow on the Lord's Day. Please note that instead of community worship we will have a live broadcast from the church, so that most of us will at least be able to worship in our homes. Pray also that we will be free to meet next Sunday. No doubt we are all troubled at this turn of events. Any occasion when the church is not gathering to worship is an occasion for lament, sadness, and even distress. In Psalm 42, when King David was kept from the public worship he prayed: "As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?`" If you are troubled, saddened, or concerned, we have encouragement from the Lord to pour that out before the Lord in prayer, perhaps using the words of Psalm 42. "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." (1 Pt 5:6-7).
