25.01.2022 More than just fresh fruits and veggies . You can order all these online through Box Divvy as well! Orders are picked up from our Cardiff Food Hub on Fridays, or we delivery to local and surrounding suburbs for $7 .

24.01.2022 Price Update from Box Divvy HQ . A few big price changes this week mostly in your favour! DOWN... Mangoes! Now down to $3.40 each, and we suspect it’ll go down a little more later this week. Afourer mandarins are having a late flush, with prices well below $3/Kg. Lebanese cucumbers are enjoying the warmer weather they’re down to $3.29/Kg today. We won’t predict what might happen, as the weather is taking a cooler turn from Thursday onwards and cucumbers are sensitive to changes in temperature. Red capsicums have come down from the lofty heights reached last Friday, thanks to improved supply from South Australia. Still $5.44 per Kg Basil is back to normal well, at least for now: $3.40 a bunch. No predictions here UP Ginger keeps creeping up now over $35/Kg. As we’ve said earlier, we don’t really expect much change until after Christmas at the earliest. Zucchini prices are holding strong, with QLD supply dropping away and local supply still piecemeal. Expect to pay $5.50-$6 per Kg for another week before prices come down.

23.01.2022 The Asparagus are amazingly fresh for only $1.81 a bunch! Here’s an amazing recipe to try out . https://www.facebook.com/2102608376681389/posts/2764464447162442/?extid=3U2AiSXtAr8OC1Mx&d=n

22.01.2022 An update from our growers: Charlie Vella in Freemans Reach is picking zucchinis again this week which means we’ll have a choice of local growers including Raymond Camilleri and Steve Grima. To cope with the expected glut, we expect prices will drop to just over $2 per Kg. Meanwhile at Coles: zucchini on Special. At (get this)$4.90 per Kg. Go figure. Raymond Camilleri in Freemans Reach has dried out his paddocks and will be picking extra beetroot bunches this week. Hel...p him out: just $2.49 a bunch, and the quality is top-notch. Baby truss tomatoes are back, and sweet already. Just $2.42 a bunch from Kim and Laks at Golden Fields. With lemon prices going sky-high, we’re expecting limes to go up as well. Expect them to come in around $5.40/Kg next week a little higher than we’d initially forecast.

18.01.2022 Some late pics from our weekend. So very blessed to be married to this man . We recently had a vegetarian BBQ dinner . When you marry a vegetarian you are sure to have great, healthy & yummy meals . No, I’m not vegetarian but I am 80-90% plant-based! We are actually quite an eclectic family when it comes to food choices ....but we all eat loads of fresh fruits and vegetables! It’s one of the many reasons why we love Box Divvy . We are a family of 5 - with 2 teens & a pre-schooler . When Box Divvy was first introduced to us, we didn’t just decide to become a member. We decided, right from the get-go, to run a weekly Food Hub to help other families also have access to fresh fruits and veggies direct from the farm, and to also save on their food bill .

16.01.2022 Produce Update: NO PEACHES !?! Just a heads-up that we were unable to get peaches today which just shows how fickle the stonefruit season still is. There’s loose market talk of ‘bad weather in growing regions’, but as best as we can tell, Queensland’s Granite Belt is mainly responsible for the current supply and we could find no bad weather reports in the area. So, there is a chance they could come in tomorrow but if not, we will substitute with nectarines. (The good... news is that nectarines have come down in price see below). In further bad news, green beans were unavailable today except for some carryover stock from last week which we’ve left well alone. Little or no improvements are expected this week, so we’ve taken them off the product list. Also, chef Bel has advised that the bonus 250ml bottle of Jalapiri is sold out and has been removed from the product list. If you had any Belicious splits with this product, please ask members to switch to the 150ml bottle instead. The rest of the news is all good: Despite the absence of peaches, nectarines have dropped in price to $4.34/Kg Cauliflowers are a little cheaper, down to $2.86 each Truss tomatoes are following the general downward trend in tomato prices down to $3.87/Kg.

16.01.2022 Christmas is here and only the very best cherries will do. Our Premium Christmas cherries from Box Divvy will be large - around 28-30mm super-sweet and around $15.60/Kg. You can buy them in 500g serves or a 2kg box. A box of cherries are a fabulous Christmas gift or as a thank you to someone hosting the family Christmas get together. #cherries #festive #deliciousandhealthy #boxdivvy

15.01.2022 Produce Update! Here are another few price drops : Mushroom supply is normalising, and so are prices: back under $12/Kg.... Roma tomatoes are following their cousins, the Field tomatoes, down in price expect to pay $4/Kg, and probably less over the next few weeks.

15.01.2022 Box Divvy HQ News: What a difference a year makes On the farm, we’ve had 170mm of rain in the past week and nature is exploding all around us in all its fury. Plants and weeds come up that we have never seen before, and weird-looking crickets and spiders have invaded the house. ... The cicadas are as deafening as an approaching express train. The creek has burst its banks and the causeways are a little tricky to cross right now. The contrast with December 2019 could not be greater: 3 bushfires had burned most of our farm, fences, reticulation and water tanks. The creek had run dry and for 2 months, we were forced to fill our water cube in town. Nature held its breath: not a sound, no birds, no insects, nothing moved. And we haven’t even talked about the things that happened in between. As they say: nothing happens in decades, and then decades happen in weeks.

14.01.2022 This is why our members love Box Divvy .

13.01.2022 Produce Update from Box Divvy HQ! A few price changes this morning and interestingly, in two cases were price rises attributed to a shortage of packers in Qld. Farmers have long warned that they were struggling to find enough backpackers to pick their produce, especially with the NSW-Qld border still closed. UP... Blueberries are up to $3.40 a punnet. Zucchini prices are now around $3.70/Kg. Ginger supply continues to be impacted by the effects from last season’s drought, with new season supply not coming through until February next year. Expect to pay around $33/Kg (or $45 in the supermarket). DOWN Lemons are still cheap, and even cheaper this week down to under $2.40/kg. The season won’t have long to run before they’ll double in price, usually around November so get some whilst the going is good. Navel oranges are down to $1.36/kg. Like lemons, they’ll finish soon-ish with Valencias taking over the baton. Just as you thought that green beans could not get any cheaper, they just have: $2.37/kg

13.01.2022 Check out how big this Wombok Cabbage our Hub received last Friday for only $1.87 each!

12.01.2022 FAQ’s for those who need more details about how Box Divvy works .

12.01.2022 Produce Update from Box Divvy HQ On the whole, the market looks fairly stable but there’s a few pockets of sharply rising prices you need to be aware of, and only a few moderate price falls to offset: UP... We’ve had an incredible run with Panama passionfruit over the past few months, but this is coming to an end: prices have risen by close to 50% to around $1.25 each. Continental eggplant also had a dramatic rise, after easing back for most of last week: it’s back up to $6.80/Kg. Still, it’s $9-10/kg in the supermarket. Hass avocado prices have been predicted to rise for a little while, and they’re starting to take off. Nothing dramatic yet ($1.36 each), but there are signs that local growers from Stuart Point to Comboyne are picking less than they were a month ago, so we’re anticipating further increases over the coming weeks. DOWN Afourer mandarins have come down a little to $2.12/Kg. There’s still plenty of supply left this season (famous last words) Kiwi fruit has eased back for now to just over $5/Kg, but the season hasn’t much left to run. Garlic’s yo-yo prices are continuing down today to $13.60/Kg (but who knows what tomorrow might bring?). At least the Lebanese cucumbers are staying put

10.01.2022 HOW DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK? Registered members receive what they call a 'starter box' - it costs from about $20 - $25 plus, depending on what’s in it and size of your family. The cycle starts from SUNDAY, you log into your Box Divvy App, where you choose a 'wish list' of items, before 9pm, which is kind of like voting for what you'd like in your 'starter box'. If you don't want an order for the following week, you must opt out or 'suspend' that order through your Box Div...vy App - it is an opt out system and the onus is on you to suspend any weeks you don't want an order. On MONDAY afternoon, I will choose 8-10 items to go into our starter box, base on what everyone 'voted'. When I publish the order on MONDAY, you can then remove up to 3 items from your starter box. This is the box you receive regardless. MONDAY to WEDNESDAY, we get to the fun part - everyone 'splits' cases of produce - which is where the co-op part comes in. We buy big as a group to keep prices cheap - we get wholesale prices. We must buy whole cases to get our orders over the line. If you just want a few items - this isn't for you. You can suggest or join other member's "Splits" - a way to purchase other F&V produce, groceries (such as nuts and seeds), bread and eggs. For example, I might decide I want half a case of apples, and half a case of oranges (I have a big family) and then put it to the group to see who'd like to take part in that case - you could take half a case, you could take half a dozen, it doesn't matter - but as a group we need to 'complete' that case or we don't get the apples or the carrots. We also have the option of fresh eggs, bread fresh from Shepherds bakery and quite a few pantry staples. On WEDNESDAY at 9pm we have to have our 'splits' finalised, so make sure you log in and check if there is anything else you can grab to help someone else 'fill' a case. On THURSDAY the farmers pack our produce fresh. FRIDAY they pick up our Fruit & Veg orders, as well as fresh bread from the bakery (it is literally baked fresh that morning) and then deliver it to me. My job is to sort, pack and organise pickups. 07.01.2022 I absolutely love stir fries . It’s the best way to use up all the fresh veggies we get each week and feed the family a meal that’s packed with goodness . This dish looks very yellow because I added a lot of minced turmeric as well . And yes, it also contains a lot of garlic which helps boost the immune system! Chopping up veggies is also a family affair in our household, where everyone pitches in to make this super quick and yummy meal .
