24.01.2022 Cauliflower soup!! Was ok... Not the best... Definitely edible... One poor daughter didn't like her soup or her bread... The cauliflower was massive.... Over 2kg (it didn't register on my Thermomix scales and it definitely wasn't the biggest of the lot we received either!) ... What did you do with your cauliflower?

22.01.2022 Fancy some tropical fruit? With these Box Divvy prices, you can have heaps!! We've been enjoying the pineapples, AND I even bought a mango last week and tried that too.... Not sure that I'll buy another, but it sure was fresh and tasty ... We still have a few spots left in our hub if you would like to join us, take advantage of those great prices! Message me to find out how.

21.01.2022 I learnt things about avocadoes this week! This was from our Box Divvy HQ. What did you learn? Did you know that avocadoes don’t ripen until they’re picked? It’s actually the harvesting (picking) action that triggers the ripening process. The Hass avocadoes have a rough skin but a creamy texture. As the Hass ripens, its skin goes from green to a dark purple. Before cutting, make sure they have plenty of ‘give’ when pressed: an unripe avocado is pretty tasteless. Why you ripe...n a Box Divvy Avocado. Box Divvy Avocadoes will usually come to you hard as they have just been picked and not ‘gassed’ in order to ripen them. Most supermarket avocadoes are gassed with ethylene to get them ‘just right’ when they go onto the shelf. However, this will shorten its life: they tend to go brown within a few days of purchasing. Box Divvy avocadoes are left to ripen naturally. Whilst you might have to wait a little, they’ll then last a week. How to speed up the ripening process Pop some unripe avocadoes into a paper bag with an apple or ripe banana (heavy breathers): these fruits give off natural ethylene. This can speed things up by a few days. Once ripened, the fruit can be refrigerated for two or three days.

19.01.2022 I thought this was a fantastic use of banana! I did a weekend away (well, I just went for the day ..) and one of the women catered for us... She lavished us with all kids of sweet, decadent treats. This was the healthiest... It at least had banana! How do you use your Banana?

16.01.2022 Our Hub loves Pink Lady Apples! We often have 3 boxes of theses divvied up between our members! And then I read this from Box Divvy Headquarters, so I thought I would share. Two varieties are named the healthiest in the world to help prevent cancer According to a study by Edit Cowan university in WA, Pink Lady and Bravo are the 2 apple varieties among the 90 varieties studied with the highest polyphenol content. Polyphenol are natural compounds linked to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Importantly, 50% of the polyphenols are contained in the skin so give them a wash and eat them au naturel!

15.01.2022 We did this local walk the other day. So easy, (the almost 2 yr old walked it!) close by and a bit of an adventure too! Have you been here?

15.01.2022 A special cake for a special boy who turned 2 last week! No box divvy in this one! Haha

14.01.2022 Zucchini flowers! My eldest was super keen to try these, so we did. Just stuffed them with our normal mince. (Maybe not the best plan, but it was the only workable one for me! I spoke with a hub member whose partner had made a ricotta stuffing and spent ages doing it right- sounded amazing, but I digress!) We had 6 tiny zucchini with the flower. Can you guess how many I ate?? I can tell you that it wasn't the same number of flowers and actual zucchini!

13.01.2022 All the wild rocket!! It took some effort to detangle!

13.01.2022 September's coffee brought to you from...

12.01.2022 Will have to try this out!

09.01.2022 So many of us love bananas and it's not surprising that they're up there as the most popular fruit on our Hub Wishlist. And there's good reason why we love the ...Box Divvy bananas so much, they taste better, they're better for our environment plus they are cheaper!. 95% of Box Divvy bananas are sourced mainly from the Coffs region. Transport from Coffs (530kms from Sydney) uses about 80% fewer food miles compared with Queensland bananas, most of which are grown in Innesfail, south of Cairns. Because of the more humid climate in North Qld, the crop requires a fair amount of ag chemicals fungicides and pesticides mainly to maintain their good looks. That is important, as the major supermarkets only buy Qld bananas and cosmetics are considered more important than flavour and nutrition. By contrast, Coffs bananas use little or no chemicals at all. What’s more: because it’s a little cooler than Qld, it takes an extra 1-2 months to bring the fruit to maturity. That makes the Coffs bananas noticeably sweeter. That said, they may not always win a beauty contest! So lower input and transport cost plus Box Divvy’s low-cost model mean they are consistently 30-40% cheaper than supermarket bananas. #bananas #healthysnack #potassium #boxdivvy

06.01.2022 Are you excited about today's box?? What will be in yours?

05.01.2022 Ginger anyone?? I keep mine in the freezer and grate/ cut when I need it. BUT, maybe I need to try the fresh ginger?

05.01.2022 A few lucky members got Asparagus last week. I'm thinking it's going to be on my list one week! It will be interested to see how that is received by the people here I'm sure that I will need to know how to store it properly if I do get some one week. Did you know that Asparagus are low breathers and like a closed environment? So keep them in a damp paper towel in a container and into the fridge. ... The other way to keep them is in a glass of water just covering the base with a bag over them in the fridge. Trim the bottoms before cooking. See more

04.01.2022 Lunch for one! A hearty feed for a Box Divvy Wednesday, in one pan! I don't get much of a break all afternoon, so I eat up at lunch. Box Divvy mushroom, baby truss tomato, eggs, rainbow chard, with avocado and caramelised onions I made last fortnight. Yum yum!

04.01.2022 Sample boxes available for pick up this Wednesday! $25-30 each. Let me know if you'd like one. Picture is a previous sample box, but contents will be similar.

04.01.2022 A Bit of information about me- I do not like Mangos! I know right?? Weird!! We don't buy mangoes in this house But, I do appreciate that a lot of you DO, and certainly we've been buying a box or more with the hub each week! Here is some extra information about Mango for you from BD HQ. How do I know if my mango is ripe? A mango with a blush on its cheek is ripe. However, don’t be fooled with a slightly green mango. Feel if they have give at the stem and slight touch on th...e side - a mango like this can also be ready to eat. Feel the mango. It is more the feel of a mango. If it has a little give then begin slicing. Always ripen at room temperature pop on top of pears or apples. Once ripe then into the fridge momentarily until ready to eat. Smell the mango. A ripe mango smells fruity (sniff at the stem end) the fruit giving a tad when you press it. A light or darker green mango will be ready to eat if it smells ripe. So for mango ripening- don’t judge a mango by its colour. SPEED RIPENING You can speed ripen by putting an unripe mango in a brown paper bag with a banana. Ripe mangoes keep longer at 14 to 15C so once ripe into the fridge.

03.01.2022 This is a part I dislike, putting everything away! But, we will have enough food to get us through this week!

02.01.2022 Beetroot! Are you a lover of Beetroot? I bake mine without covering in the oven, but mostly, I just blitz it and put into my mince for spaghetti bolognaise or lasagna. I might have to give it a go in stirfry! How do you use yours?
