23.01.2022 There's always treasure at the end of a rainbow. Beautiful to see it this morning as I started my pack.

23.01.2022 Australia has a very strong coffee culture, so it's with great delight that I announce you a new partnership with Black Market Roasters. You will find their coffee range in the pantry, under drinks. Check it out !

22.01.2022 Parenting hack # ... (who's counting!?) With tomatoes being on the cheap (and much tastier than any supermarket), time to get those pasta Bolognese on the menu. Recipe? Fry some garlic and onions. Add your mince. Throw as much green as you have tomatoes - this batch had broccoli, kale , baby spinach and celery, maybe even a zucchini. A few carrots for good measure, let simmer and blend.... Cook pasta. Mix everything together and serve. Call it Bolognese. Enjoy a relax meal! PS: You shouldn't hide veggies but once in a while a meal without resorting to a strong motivational voice, is nice

22.01.2022 Eating a Rainbow has never been so easy!

20.01.2022 We have beautiful produce from mostly local farmers and delivered to us, which is fantastic. Even better now, you can compliment any of your meal with spices and sauces from Belicious. How good is that !! What's so special about Belicious!? - 100% natural: they do not contain artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, fillers, thickeners, etc just herbs and spices... - Hand-made to order in small batches by Chef Bel, a Portuguese-born chef in Warrawee on Sydney’s North Shore. - Every batch is a little different, enhance the hand-made fact. - A little will go a long way! The spices are freshly-ground and bottled, so the flavours are intense. - They also contain whole spices like star anise and bay leaves for interesting texture. You will find them in the Pantry section of Marketplace, under Herbs & spices.

19.01.2022 Supply is up, price goes down! Nifty hack from a member, substitute pine nuts for sunflower seeds for a safer dip that everyone can eat ;)

18.01.2022 If you haven't tried our blood oranges yet, make sure you do before end of season. Their distinct taste is only one reason to give them a go. Rich in vitamin C, blood oranges also offer unique health benefits associated with high levels of anthocyanins. The anthocyanins which give the blood orange is distinct color will only develop when temperatures are low at night and warm during the day.

13.01.2022 Mango growers are delivering this week Somehow, Australian mango growers are delivering when it counts: for Christmas. Kensington Pride should be around $2.20, but our money is still on the (larger) Honeygold which will sell around $1.89 each next week. Sweet as

12.01.2022 I love Ratatouille! It is a very easy dish to create and so versatile. It makes also a terrific spaghetti sauce, which my picky children will eat without moaning or whinging about each little piece of vegetables they can find. Big bonus! You can eat cold or hot and enjoy it equally (in my opinion that is :) ) And if you like olives, make sure to add half a jar to a jar of them, as you start the simmering process. So delicious! Saute the vegetables, bring out the even more fla...vours, but if you're short on time, you could simply throw all your cut up veg into your slow cooker and let it simmer away. If you're using a slow cooker, allow for few hours to cook Ingredients extra virgin olive oil 2eggplants, diced 3garlic cloves, finely chopped sea salt and freshly ground black pepper 4zucchini, diced bunchthyme, leaves picked - in all honesty, I use the dry Italian Mix herbs, and find it just fine 1onion, diced 2red capsicum, diced 1 kgtomatoes, diced, you could use can of tomatoes instead but flavourful fresh tomatoes are so much better :) 500 ml(2 cups) passata Instructions Heat a generous splash of oil in a frying pan over low heat and add the eggplant and one-third of the garlic. Season with salt and pepper and sauté until tender. Tip into a large bowl. Return the pan to the heat and add more oil. Add the zucchini, another third of the garlic, half the thyme and some salt and pepper. Sauté until tender, then add to the bowl with the eggplant. Add more oil to the pan and sauté the onion, capsicum and remaining garlic and thyme until tender. Combine all the cooked vegetables in a pot. Add the tomatoes and passata and simmer gently for 1 hours. Remove from the heat, taste for seasoning. You could add fresh basil as a topping. See more

10.01.2022 This month’s coffee, from Black Market Raosters, has the flavour of nectarine, black tea, redcurrant The Montecillo region is located in the central Western part of Honduras.

08.01.2022 A little on the late side, but here are the market news. In addition, Valencia and Sheppard are out; Navel and Hass are in! Local snowpeas should be on the market soon, maybe even sugarsnaps!

08.01.2022 Beetroot and tomato relish: Perhaps not a Christmas tradition not yet anyway, although it has the right colour but beetroot and tomatoes are cheap right now. They are simply beckoning to be turned into a versatile relish that can be used on Turkey or Chicken, or roast veggies, or in a salad with rocket and feta. Simply roast 500g tomatoes (try baby Roma or regular truss tomatoes, sliced in half, generously sprinkled with salt and garlic) and 3 good-sized beets in the ove...n (90 mins at 180 C). Remove and let cool down before peeling the beetroot. Slice both the beetroot and tomato into small cubes. In a thick-bottomed pan, mix 1 cup sugar, cup red wine, cup apple cider vinegar, 3 Tbs balsamic vinegar, 1 red onion (finely chopped) and 1 Tbs Dijon mustard. Bring to the boil, and the beetroot and tomatoes, and cook for 10 minutes. Cool in the fridge before serving.

08.01.2022 Market news ... and they are pretty good with an abundance of winter produce arriving, such as Fennel. What will you be cooking next week?

08.01.2022 Don't be sad! End of season for some means the beginning of a new one for others...

05.01.2022 Box Divvy vs Supermarket - Let's play spot the difference ...

05.01.2022 The boys had their serve of Vitamin C before lunch. They're loving the blood oranges and kiwi fruit. FUN FACT: Kiwifruit can be (and should be) eaten with the skin on - full of fibres and vitamin. It takes a bit to adjust but it's worth it

04.01.2022 Christmas dilemma: traditional roast or seafood with salad? The weather forecast looks undecisive: neither hot nor cold, dry nor wet, sunny nor overcast. Which makes it hard to decide whether to go for the traditional roast pumpkin, potato, carrot, parsnip, onion, thyme and rosemary with the turkey or beef. Or for a healthy salad, with Baby Roma Truss, baby chard and rocket, cucumber, avocado and shallots. What are you planning on?

04.01.2022 Photo credit to Zoe Cunliffe-Jones ... and the cooking She created the Halloween pumpkin dip recipe. What will yours be? Post photo in comments. We would love to see your creations

02.01.2022 Charlie Vella in Freemans Reach still has plenty of celery - $2.30 a bunch. Local, fresh and cheap... what more could you need ?! What to do with it maybe? I hear you! Here is 3 ways to cook celery: in a soup, in a curry or with pilaf rice. How do you like it? Share in the comments below

01.01.2022 Between a rock and a hard melon? Not a chance! Have you seen the eye-watering melon prices in the supermarkets? At Woolies, you can fork out $29.75 for a whole watermelon or get one from Box Divvy for just $7.28 (or less than $2/Kg). Likewise, the small rockmelons and orange candy melons have been a hit.

01.01.2022 Thanks @lowwastefamily (Instagram), shown below, how to store: Asparagus in my #plasticfree produce. Keep these guys in peak freshness by chopping off the ends and placing in a bit of water before putting in the fridge. This will keep them, ahem, "standing at attention" much longer.
