18.01.2022 Ahhh, nice to be appreciated, especially on International Women’s Day!

17.01.2022 I love the inventive ways #boxdivvy hub members reuse and recycle ! Used produce netting, strung together with some string, easily turned into a packing bag for loose items! If you want to help reduce your waste, this is one simple way to achieve it. You may have old ice cream or yoghurt tubs that just end up in the rubbish...label them and leave them with your bags and together we can reuse and recycle and reduce our environmental impact !... #Toongabbie #fresh #local #reducereuserecycle #recycle #wastefree

17.01.2022 Its late, your exhausted, and you have nothing prepared for dinner yet...the kids are begging for takeaway, and you start to think thats the easy answer.... Mmmm, Indian sounds nice. A good curry. I might even cook my own rice to save some $ ... I start to look online and create my menu.. Enter hubby...he comes in with the #beliciousfoods Masala spice mix..says he will make it himself. He cant bare to spend money on something that he can make himself, and is confident in t...he clean ingredients being used to create his own version. Verdict; Delicious! Better than takeaway!!! We use the Medium curry powder, and it was the perfect amount of spice for us ! Had to pop a bit of Natural yoghurt into the kids bowls to tone down the spice though #boxdivvy #belicious #fresh #nutrition #curry #cleaneating #diabetes

17.01.2022 Saturday morning treat for the kids. Fresh pineapple and blood orange juice. Pineapples are rich in Vitamin C, and also contain Magnese, Vitamin A, and beta carotene. The humble pineapple is a brilliant antioxidant and anti inflammatory, and just 100g will give you your entire daily retirement of Vitamin C ! Blood oranges are also a powerhouse of vitamins, and are rich in Vitamin C, as well as Vitamin A, folic acid, and calcium ! The blood orange also contains high levels o...f anthocyanins, an antioxidant which aids the body to fight off free radicals and aids in reducing inflammation. So I guess this Saturday morning treat isnt actually a treat, but an essential part of helping your body function at optimum health.

16.01.2022 Thanks Christine for your mango feedback! Fiji and mangoes, yes please!

16.01.2022 For those requesting the recipe to fermented garlic paste I make, here it is ! I got this from the I Quit Sugar Simplicious flow cook book, by Sarah Wilson and hands down it’s the best cookbook I own. So many sustainable recipes and fantastic ideas for waste free cooking. I have used it to make batches of ginger, garlic, apple cider vinegar (using leftover apple cores!!), and vegetable stock using all my leftover scraps from the week. So jump online and order lots of Austr...alian garlic, make a few batches, and ditch the supermarket minced garlic! #sustainable #zerowaste #iquitsugar #garlic #simpliciousflow #boxdivvy #australiangarlic

16.01.2022 Todays delivery was all about local produce ! Local grown food means less transport and storage time for the produce, giving it a much higher nutrition profile than your standard supermarket vege and fruit. It also means we are supporting farmers that live in our local basin, and are rewarded with beautiful produce like this! Rainbow Dutch carrots - Steve Grima @ Horsley Park... Cauliflower- Joey Camilleri @ Freemans Reach Beetroot bunch - Steve Grima @ Horsley Park Iceberg lettuce - Charlie Vella @ Freemans Reach Snowpeas - Ung family @ Wallacia Broccoli - Gerard Saad @ Wilberforce Zucchini flowers - Charlie Vella @ Freemans Reach #boxdivvy #nutrition #local #fresh #Toongabbie #farmers #localfarmers

14.01.2022 Box Divvy’s melon prices are hard to beat! Look at the price comparison between the watermelons and rockmelons! Also, who has been loving the candy melons? I had never had one before, and now can safely say it’s right up there with one of my favourite fruits! Crunchy like a nashi pear, but with a mild rockmelon flavour! Yum !

13.01.2022 Love a good snag, especially combined with a plate full of #boxdivvy vege, and Belicious Foods sauce! I am yet to try the belicious tomato relish, but would have smothered this in Belicious Habanerry sauce ! The range of spices and sauces on offer from Chef Bel are not only preservative free, but taste absolutely amazing!

11.01.2022 A day in the life of your hubster!

11.01.2022 Locally grown by Charlie Vella in Freemans Reach, and an absolute bargain at $2.72 each! Prices at the major supermarkets is $3.90 and $4.90 respectively. Probably not as big, and certainly not as fresh as what we get.

10.01.2022 Thanks for sharing Renee ! What a healthy alternative to the classic Nachos!

10.01.2022 ARE YOU A BACKYARD GROWER?? Were super excited that Backyard Growers can now supply Box Divvy! We have a number of backyard growers now selling into local hubs...Will you be our next one? Whether you've got surplus or you want to generate income from home, Box Divvy have made it easier to sell your produce to the local community! ... One of the aims this year is to start neighbours growing and selling into their local Box Divvy Food Hub. We hope that backyard growers will eventually contribute 10-20% of our food supply, which will bolster food security at a time of rapid climate change and possible future pandemics. The way to change things is to let communities run it. Part of the requirements is to have your soil tested for the presence of heavy metals by the VegeSafe program. We ask that you pay $40 to cover the costs of the soil analysis, time involved, data privacy security and laboratory consumables. Once you receive the certificate, we will refund you $20. Backyard growers can apply to supply their produce to one or more hubs in a region by emailing [email protected] #supportlocal #foodhub #foodcoop #farmfresh #savemoney #supportlocalfarmers #boxdivvy #freshfood #lowfoodmiles #reduceyourcarbonfootprint #healthyeating #biodynamicfarming #permaculture #vegetarian #vegan #earnanincome #workfromhome #parttimeincome #farmtoplate

01.01.2022 This is why the Box Divvy aim to democratise the food system. This is why as a group we pay our farmers fairly, buy on order, don’t store, no food waste, and encourage healthy eating. The single thing that drives us is to encourage eating fresh. High in nutrition. Cook your own meal. Don’t rely on high energy low nutrition meals.... Attached is an article from last weeks SMH, but before you read that read the comments below from a farmer; The truth? What a load of rubbish. We are vegie growers, capsicums to be precise. We are experiencing the lowest prices in 5 years, yet still sky high prices in the supermarket. Have a good hard look at where the consumer is being ripped off, it is not high prices for the grower, just super-high profits for the supermarkets. We employ people on an hourly rate at award wages, super, workcover etc and are currently losing money. Will plough in crop shortly, it's not covering the cost of picking, let alone growing costs. https://www.smh.com.au//farmers-put-economic-growth-on-the
