24.01.2022 Fantastic news - our Rotary Recycle Store is now open again from 10am to 4pm on Monday to Fridays and 10 to 12 on Saturdays. Located at Wattle Park opposite the Tram Terminus - come on down. It was wonderful to see many shoppers in the store yesterday - so good on so many levels. President Mark decided to run our meeting from the shop at 7.30 am Wednesday - much to the surprise of everyone on Zoom. Well done for the innovation and use of technology. A huge shout out... to all our volunteers at the Shop - you are the best Perhaps the Rotary theme can be Rotary Opens Opportunity Shops (it is actually Rotary Opens Opportunities)

24.01.2022 Wow, what an inspiring program of speakers we are having. This week, we are privileged to hear from Issy Stadler, a young Australian woman who moved to New York to follow her love of the theatre. She has become a highly sought after specialist in her area of expertise backstage. Issy has worked on some of the biggest name events on Broadway in recent years and has even travelled the world plying her trade when big Broadway events launch in other countries. We would be delighted to have you join us and hear Issy and catch a little of what Rotary at Box Hill Central is about. We are a morning club and meetings begin at 7.30 am to 8.30 am with a half hour before for catch up chat.

23.01.2022 RCBHC is pleased to advise the success of a Rotary District 9810 Grant application to support the education, protection and empowerment of primary students through the A21 Australia Primary Prevention Program launching locally in 2021. This will help to raise awareness of slavery, human trafficking and child exploitation, while empowering students to speak up about it. Thankyou Rotary Foundation and Rotary Club of Brighton North for your support. ... Highly encourage watching the GlobalFreedomSummit Broadcast to better understand the challenge of modern slavery everywhere and be inspired to take action. #GlobalFreedomSummit #rotaryactiongroupagainstslavery https://youtu.be/5QVbkkR1vQ0

21.01.2022 Membership of Rotary presents many opportunities to make a significant difference through partnering with others across the globe. On Wednesday, we were privileged to hear Ron Denham share his thoughts on WASH in Healthcare facilities, particularly focussing on countries beyond our borders. Click on this link to hear his presentation. Wanting to make a difference, then Rotary could be just the vehicle for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnTaBbVp8iw&feature=youtu.be

14.01.2022 Rotary meetings are so often full of surprises - and yesterday was one of them. We had a superb speaker from CERES, and our own member spoke of the opportunity to bring his musical skill to the District Conference when he was Governor a few years back. This track was then shared with us of his favourite. Thanks Brian for sharing this with us all. https://youtu.be/B9uEha8u4Gc. Click here to enjoy the Black Velvet Band.

13.01.2022 Partnering with the Blackburn South Community Bank (of Bendigo Bank), the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central is proud to have been a lead supporter of Umbrella Dementia Cafe's Moving Feast Project. During the first Covid-19 lockdown, the project delivered 1700 meals to the Whitehorse community. Thanks and congratulations to all involved.

11.01.2022 Can't make it to the face-to-face meeting at Rotary. Box Hill Central Rotary caters for everyone with the option of "zooming in" to the meeting. This week, we had two members staying at Numurkah after making a presentation at their meeting the night before, one who lives in Beaufort, another on the Peninsula as well as several zooming in from homes across the Eastern suburbs. Hybrid meetings make our club connect very well and have everyone experience the feeling of the Rotary Club at work. This week, we heard from three of our major community grant recipients - all able to Zoom into the meeting and enjoy the cameraderie of this amazing club.

09.01.2022 Congratulations to six local organisations who are recipients of the Community Grant Program for 2020-2023 - a joint initiative of the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central and the Blackburn South Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank. 01.01.2022 Our guest speaker this Wednesday morning is Melissa Finlayson, a young mum of two boys from Sydney with a fascinating and very contemporary story. In March of this year she left Australia for a short visit to The Congo and The UK. Not long after leaving the country, things changed dramatically and Australia went into lockdown. Her short trip turned into six months stuck in The Congo, one of the poorest and most dangerous countries in the world! As much as she tried, she was s...imply unable to get home. She ended up spending six months over there before finally making the long trek back to quarantine in a Sydney hotel. She was reunited with her children in mid September. Rather than deliver a presentation, our own Ashley Coleman-Bock will interview Melissa about her experience in the Congo and in quarantine. If you would like to attend, please message us.
