25.01.2022 2021 Youth World Championships & Selection Event The AIBA Youth World Championships, originally planned for this year, have been postponed to 10-24 April 2021 in Poland. I believe as posted on AIBAs website, that the Championships will be for boxers who are eligible as Youths in 2020 (born between 1 Jan 2002 to 31 Dec 2003). BAL have not yet received any official documentation in regard to this; only that which is posted as a news article on the AIBA website. Accordingly B...AL will need to run a Youth Selection Event, optimally in early February 2021. Josh OBrien Chief Executive Officer BWA will use the 2020 State Championships as a selection event for our Youth selection team to compete in the 2021 Australia Selection Event. 25.01.2022 The Draw will now be conducted this Thursday 27th August giving Coaches time to check their boxers correct weights & ages. -Once the draw has been completed a boxer cannot change weight divisions. -All medicals & serology must be current. -Boxers must carry a copy of their current serology with their Blue book. -No medical + No Serology + No registration = No fight. -Medical blue books must have a passport photo and boxer details etc filled out.... - No red or similar colour allowed in mouth guards. - Boxers must be clean shaven before weighing in. -Boxers that are matched must pay the $20 tournament entry fee at the weigh in. -If a boxer wins their bout but cannot continue through to the next round due to injury or medical reasons or other unforeseen circumstances the runner up will have the option of continuing in the competition. 22.01.2022 BAL Workshops Dear Member Associations, Boxing Australia is excited to offer combined R&J/coach/boxer/interested folk Zoom workshops as a means to share knowledge and build confidence in our Rules across the boxing community. ... Each MA will be offered two workshops to run for one hour each during weekends and will consist of: * Workshop 1 - Judge roles and responsibilities, and scoring system * Workshop 2 - Referee roles and responsibilities with scenarios; and * Q & A at the end of each session. The intended benefits of these workshops are: * Improved understanding and communication between coaches, boxers, referees and judges; and * Expansion of knowledge in the technical rules of the sport. 21.01.2022 Boxing Western Australia Inc & Australian Masters Games After 50 years Boxing returns to the Perth Town Hall, completed in 1870 and the only Town Hall in Australia to be built by convicts. located on the corner of Hay Street and Barrack Street, Perth.... The Town Hall welcomes boxing back with the 2021 Australian Masters Games. The games consisting of over 50 sports will be held from Saturday 9 - Saturday 16 October 2021 The Boxing will be conducted from Thursday 14 -Friday 15 - Saturday 16 October 2021. 20.01.2022 World Olympic Qualification Event Dear Member Associations, Last night the IOC Boxing Task Force advised that the World Olympic Qualification Event, slated for June in Paris, has been cancelled.... The 53 quota places assigned to the World Olympic Qualification Event will now be allocated based on the BTF Rankings, with 1 athlete per division, per continent being awarded a quota to Tokyo. 19.01.2022 Remaining Tokyo 2020 boxing qualifiers further delayed by COVID-19 By Ali Iveson Thursday, 5 November 2020 The European Olympic Qualifier was called off after three days in March because of the health crisis Getty Images New windows on the calendar have been announced for the three remaining boxing qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, after the coronavirus pandemic led to them being further postponed.... The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Boxing Task Force (BTF), which is organising the boxing competition at next year's games, had planned to stage the outstanding qualifiers in early 2021, but has had to think again. The European Olympic Qualifier, which is part-complete, is now penciled in for April and May. It is hoped the Americas Olympic Qualifier can be staged in May, while the last-chance World Olympic Qualifier has been timetabled for June. "The exact dates and locations will be confirmed at a later date as we continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 and the development of testing measures continue to evolve," the BTF said in a statement. "We remain committed to confirming all final details at least 3 months prior to the start of the qualification events." Two Turkish boxers and a coach, as well as a Croatian athlete and two coaches, tested positive for COVID-19 on their return to their respective countries, while the Russian Boxing Federation later said coach Anton Kadushin had contracted the virus in London as well. The Americas event had been scheduled for Buenos Aires, while Paris was due to host the world tournament before the pandemic struck. Qualifiers for Africa and the combined Asia-Oceania zone have been completed, although the latter had to be moved from Wuhan in China - then the epicentre of the pandemic - to Jordanian capital Amman. The BTF is organising the event at Tokyo 2020 after the IOC suspended recognition of the International Boxing Association in May 2019 over long-standing governance, finance and ethics concerns. Morinari Watanabe, an IOC Member from Japan and President of the International Gymnastics Federation, chairs the BTF.

The U19 State Championships date will be pushed back to later in the season and will be combined with the Elite State Championships. Junior 15/16yrs Youth 17/18yrs Elites 19-23yrs The Futures Program is made up of the State’s best performing Junior / Youth and Elite boxers 19-23yrs, with this camp open to athletes who have won a State, Golden Gloves or National Title in the past two-year period (2019-20). The Futures Program holds up to 8-10 State Futures camps per year as well as having National Pathway opportunities. Each State Futures squad is no more than 20 athletes, which will include identified pathway and nationally categorised Elite athletes. The Futures selection camp will hold 3 training sessions including sparring, with the attendance of the National Futures Coach, Jamie Pittman, and a State selection panel.
