21.01.2022 My first fight at 81 kg back in 2009. I remember hurting my left shoulder 2 weeks prior & almost didn’t fight. My physio told me that I would be good to go on fight night so long as I rested it until then. So for 2 weeks all I did was throw right hands on the bag, on the pads & in sparring. And what happened on fight night? I won with a right uppercut. I made the decision to focus on what I can do as opposed to what I can’t & make the most of it. This time it paid off @ Sydney, Australia

13.01.2022 'I still don't like being reminded about Hagler, every time I hear about it I just want us to fight again. He had a hard head, no wonder he was bald! It was one... of the shortest yet most exciting fights most people had ever seen, but it was three rounds I just want to forget. In my opinion, both of us had drained ourselves to make the weight, But, as soon as the bell rung, we both just ran out of the corner. I was thinking to myself 'look at this fool! What's wrong with him? Something has made him mad.' I knew it wouldn't be long before someone was out of there. I punched him again and again as hard as I could, then just wondered how on earth he was taking these shots. I hit him with everything I had, it was unreal. He was a freak. He just kept coming, I am not a quitter but I think I lost heart. All I could think to do was keep popping him as he came forward. Then he got me. It's only ever takes one punch to change things and that's what happened to me. There's always that danger.' - Thomas Hearns 15th April 1985 - Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas. An exhausted Thomas 'Hitman' Hearns is carried away after challenging 'Marvellous' Marvin Hagler for the Undisputed Middleweight World Championship. The fight only lasted 9 minutes, but anyone who's been fortunate enough to witness the spectacle will testify that the collision of Hagler and Hearns is some of the most viciously exciting boxing you are ever likely to see. The first round set the precident - between Hagler and Hearns a total of 165 punches were thrown, 106 of which met their target. Hearns' right hand was a notorious tool of the trade, having previously used it to knock the durable Roberto Duran out cold. Hagler however, had an incredibly tough chin as well as potent power of his own and to the surprise of his critics, was able to walk through Hearns' right hand to get to work on the inside and hurt him. Hagler's ability to continuously switch from southpaw to orthodox was evidently confusing for Hearns, who was ferociously whipping out shots to keep the shorter Hagler at bay, successfully landing over and over. Many viewers felt Hearns' right hand would eventually subdue Hagler if it kept finding it's mark. A cut opened up on Hagler's forehead and it would later turn out that Hearns broke his right hand during round one, but Hagler kept coming forward, seemingly more determined every time Hearns landed. The first round alone was incredible, Ring Magazine would go on to call it 'the greatest round in boxing history.' The 2nd round saw a more cautious Hearns, who focused on staying on the outside and countering when he could. A few moments before the bell however, Hagler managed to catch Hearns within range and unloaded until the bell brought a halt to the onslaught. With Hagler's cut and with Hearns seemingly overwhelmed at times, it was hard to sense which fighter had the overall advantage, but Hagler seemed to be edging it. In the third round the referee called a halt to the action for the ringside Doctor to assess Hagler's cut. The Doctor asked Hagler if he could see okay, to which Hagler famously replied, 'I ain't missing him, am I?' And with that, the fight resumed. No sooner than the fight had resumed Hagler caught Hearns with a peach of a right hook, sending a stunned Hearns back to the ropes. Smelling blood, Hagler swiftly moved in for the kill, landing a right cross flush on Hearns' chin. Hearns crashed to the canvass and counting commenced. On unsteady legs, Hearns bravely rose and managed to beat the count but was clearly in no condition to continue and the referee stopped the fight. Ring Magazine would honour the fight with both Fight of the Year and Round of the Year Awards.

Generating a great deal of torque from the hips, through the mid section & into the target... It’s very common for two boxers to throw a lead hook at the same time.. Which is why it’s so important to keep your rear (non punching hand) to your cheek bone.
