18.01.2022 Thanks to Geoff Hall ACS I was able to join him on two seasons of the @stanaustralia original series #Bloom starring Brian Brown @phoebejtonkin and Jackie Weaver. On season 2 I was given the opportunity to DP some 2nd Unit scenes directed by writer and show runner @glendolman This scene with Brian, Phoebe and Toby Schmidt was about rebirth. I asked Geoff if he was okay with me trying an idea of creating a church style cross in Brian’s eyes as he looked in to his wife’s rebirth. Geoff encouraged me and the result although subtle, I was really pleased with. Next time - a slightly bigger source in terms of size would make it more pronounced, but I was happy with the result. There’s no substitute for being encouraged to try. Thanks Geoff, and Glenn!

05.01.2022 It seems like a lifetime ago now but it’s still something I am very proud of. This screen grab is from a digital version of the original short for #Saw I loved working on it and I still believe that given all our limited resources a terrific job was done by all involved. We shot the trailer over two days on Super 16mm and Zeus super speeds. The largest lamp we had was a 2.5k HMI that was just enough for our lightning effect. I’m so pleased for @leighwhannel and @creepypup...pet that they have gone on to such success. The following images are from the original script I was given to read - a script I loved immediately. The third image was where I wrote James’ contact number so I could call him and chat about the idea. He was terrific to chat to, and was so clear about his idea right from the start. A true testament to belief and ability
02.01.2022 There’s lots of ways to do Sim Trav ... simulated travel. Here’s a couple .... On season 2 of Playing For Keeps we had to set up the boys driving prior to an accident. With limited time, and budget this was always going to present a challenge but @kwgrips and @lesliefrazier391 helped make it work! A projector, a 20’x10’ ultra bounce, a couple of @kinoflolightingsystems selects, some black corflute a 650w fresnel and some coloured gel. Add to that a couple of cameras, a slider and a car on go-jacks and I think we got away with it. Of course the alternative is green screen outside in the rain and mud for S2 of Bloom.
