23.01.2022 Art in nature! Take a walk through Conondale National Park and you’ll come across a unique piece of artwork, the Strangler Cairn. This living sculpture will one... day be engulfed by a Stangler Fig. The Strangler Cairn was created in 2011 by English artist Andy Goldsworthy, who is known globally for his works created in natural and often remote environments. The work was positioned beneath a clearing in the rainforest canopy caused when a massive fig crashed to the ground; fittingly, the sapling was grown from a cutting of this fallen tree. 23.01.2022 We met this amazing young guy today when he pulled up for refreshment at The Witta General Store. Sam plans to travel around Australia in this beast towing a 6.5 metre trailer AND an ex-flying doctor King Air plane AND a Suzuki Sierra car. The plane will be fitted out for him to sleep in. He plans to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Dolly’s Dream, an anti-bullying platform. Sam is seventeen years old and only got his P plates two days ago! Sam will leave from Maleny in February 2021 (Covid permitting). Let’s all follow him, donate to the causes and, if possible, be there to wave him off next February!
