25.01.2022 JobKeeper. its not necessarily as simple as you might think. We are (again) forced to provide advice on things without ourselves knowing all the ins and outs of it, but we are as up to date as possible. If you have questions send us a message

23.01.2022 It looks like the temporary measures aimed at providing relief from directors of companies from personal liability for insolvent trading will be extended to 31 December depending on your point of view, its either: A: a godsend to struggling businesses who are hoping to trade out of the economic disaster after the lock downs are lifted and the economy gets moving again, or... B: a disaster waiting to happen when all the "zombie" businesses fall off the cliff when the financial support stops Its more likely that its actually a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B. So, how does this affect me and what should I do about it??? if you are owed money by another business, the best thing you can do is TALK TO THEM. Find out their situation, discuss what they are doing and how they are travelling and what they intend to do for the next 6 - 12 months. Communicate with these businesses. DONT LEAVE YOURSELF EXPOSED TO A LIQUIDATION THAT MIGHT DRAG YOUR BUSINESS DOWN THE TOILET. It is clear the the exemption for directors who are guilty of insolvent trading creates potential for them to walk away from business debt, but there is no law that says you must provide credit terms to every man and his dog. If you know and trust the business you are dealing with, that might give you a greater degree of confidence that you will get paid. If the amount owed to you is not so large that it will break you then you can provide terms for them to pay you. Use common sense. If you think its a risk, and the consequences of that creditor disappearing in a puff of insolvency is catastrophic, then dont give them the opportunity to ruin you. All business is a risk. Part of being in business is MANAGING that risk and MITIGATING the downside of the risk And if you want to discuss things with us, about this or any other aspect of running your business, give us a ring.

18.01.2022 $2,240,000 into 5,000 bean counters comes back at $448 worth of training per accountant. the phrase "window dressing"springs to mind. Blind Freddy can see which people are suffering from anxiety and stress: its the ones who are struggling to keep their door open, and lose sleep over the fact that they might be forced to lay people off, or cannot figure out how they are going to continue to make their mortgage payments, or the school fees, or pay the rent next month. If you... need to do an online webinar to identify clients suffering from stress I think you're in the wrong game. $450 worth of CPD wont make any difference to these people. Some bureaucrat will make a name for himself though.....thats nice for him.....I hope he feels all warm and fuzzy with all the good he has done in the community. Pah.

18.01.2022 I have heard that you can make pretty good coin in the boning room, but this guy must have been something special!!!!!!!!!

17.01.2022 Happy 21st Birthday Elke !! Remember to pace yourself this weekend #HappyBirthday #BPCAccounting

12.01.2022 It is very clear that there are a large number of poorly educated and downright incompetent tax agents out there. In addition to this, there are also a number of unregistered tax agents operating, that the regulatory bodies struggle to deal with at all. SO here are some things to look out for: 1: if your tax agent wants your myGov login, I guarantee he/she is NOT registered. A registered tax agent doesn't need to log into your myGov portal, everything we need is available t...hrough our own Tax Agent Portal. RUN A MILE!!! 2: If your tax agent isn't asking questions about receipts and log books, and are blindly punching whatever you tell them into your tax return, you have question what sort of service you are getting: 3: If you tax agent isn't telling you about the massively increased level of audit activity by the ATO recently, and explaining how this is tied DIRECTLY to the numbers you put in your tax return, you have to question what sort of service you are getting 4: If your tax agent isn't offering you ADVICE on what things you CAN claim, and what things you CANNOT claim, you have to question what sort of service you are getting. you can get a shitty service from an unregistered agent who is likely to sell you a story of massive refunds and charge you a high fee or even take a percentage of your refund. This WILL result in tears you can get a tax lodgement service from a tax agent who offers no advice and just punches the numbers without thinking about your situation: cheap, quick and not much good for you. The risk of getting spanked by the ATO could be a LOT higher than you think, and dont think that you can point the finger at your agent and get out of any penalties. or you can get REAL tax practitioner, one with experience, qualifications and the ability to give you meaningful advice, suggestions on how to MANAGE tax, and keep you on the right side of the law.

11.01.2022 QUESTION: when is a dirty great big yank truck not a dirty great big yank truck?? ANSWER: when the ATO says its a CAR, and not eligible for the full $150,000 asset write off. call us to discuss your options and the tax consequences for your business.
