23.01.2022 This year NAIDOC week runs from Sunday November 8 to Sunday November 15. It is about celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia. The 2020 theme 'Always Was, Always Will Be' recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for Australia for over 65000 years and celebrates the survival of the oldest continuing living culture on the planet. To celebrate NAIDOC week, some of our students and staff participated in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander themed trivia quiz.

22.01.2022 During the school holiday break we received the official news that Banksia Park International High School has been re-accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS). CIS accreditation requires a school to provide evidence of meeting international standards across all aspects of school operations. Last term staff, students, Governing Council members and parents participated in an online CIS accreditation visit. Thank you to everybody for your involvement and the work you do every day to benefit our school community. Our school community would also like to thank our ‘virtual visitors’ Mr Paul Bancroft (CIS Team chair) Ms Heather Carreiro, Mr Daniel Jenkins and Mr Pete Goodman for their comprehensive report and feedback to our school.

21.01.2022 Girls Soccer Program Football Your Way In term 3, Mr Voigt applied for and won a school sport grant worth $1,000. This allowed our school to purchase some valuable equipment as well as some girls from our specialist soccer program being given the opportunity to participate in the ‘Football Your Way’ program. On Tuesday 27 October Football SA came and ran the program to 48 girls who were selected to participate. This included students from years 8-11 and was put in place to... improve their skills and develop their understanding of the game. The program ran from 9.00am 1.00pm and Football SA coaches Matt, Jake and Tiarn were fantastic in providing an opportunity for our students to improve their knowledge and understanding in a fun yet competitive way. At the end of the session the feedback was extremely positive, and students signed up to go into the draw to win a signed Sam Kerr playing shirt. This is just the beginning of the wonderful affiliation BPIHS has with Football SA. In 2021, BPIHS will be the first school in the state to have a year 9-12 specialist soccer program. Students will gain the following certificates (free of charge only for our school) if they enroll in the program across all years. Coaching Courses, Referee Courses, Futsal certificate, Referee Laws of the Game (Online course) MiniRoos coaching certificate, Skill Training certificate, Referee Level 3 & Level 4 course Game Training certificate See more

21.01.2022 After the conclusion of the year 12 farewell assembly last week, the class of 2020 were treated to a fantastic morning tea catered by several of the year 10 and 11 Food and Hospitality and Café Skills students. There was a huge range of sweet and savoury finger foods, along with coffees made to order. Thanks to all the students who contributed to the successful morning and once again, congratulations to this year’s year 12’s!

20.01.2022 Banksia Cup 2020 The 12th Banksia Cup was yet another fantastic day. 29 teams from Redwood Park PS, Fairview Park PS, Banksia Park PS and St Davids Parish PS attended the day. Over 250 students were involved, which saw all four primary schools represented in the Grand Finals. Mr Voigt’s Year 11 students from Banksia Park International High School’s specialist soccer program organised the event. This involved refereeing the matches, marking out the pitches, scoring, organizing... all the equipment and hosting the event. Mr Loudon’s percussion band did a tremendous job opening the day and playing at lunchtime. Miss Neindorf’s year 11 café skills class also did a wonderful job providing hot drinks for all the staff and catering with delicious snacks for students and staff at lunchtime. Football South Australia representatives Jake and Tiarn attended the day to show their ongoing support. Our partnership with them is greatly appreciated and there are many exciting opportunities ahead in 2021 with BPIHS’s offering stage 2 specialist soccer for the first time. In the final of the girls Fairview Park PS won 9-1 against Banksia Park PS and in the boys final Redwood Park PS won 1-0 against St Davids Parish PS. Adelaide United players Ryan Strain and Jordan Elsey were on hand to present the winning trophies. Thank you to those guys for making the time to come out in their busy schedules. Well done to everyone involved in making the day such a success from all the schools and congratulations to everyone involved for playing in such a wonderful spirit.

15.01.2022 This year BPIHS again offered stage 2 students the opportunity to obtain their Certificate 3 in Fitness. HPE Coordinator and accredited Certificate 4 in fitness trainer, Paul Jones, taught the course. It is a fantastic opportunity for students who are looking at potentially going into the fitness industry or planning a career as a Personal Trainer. The affordable course also gives students 90 stage 2 credits towards their SACE, if they successfully complete all units of compe...tency. This year there were 16 year 12 students who obtained their accreditation after completing 30 practical hours in the school weights room; doing group exercise programs on the oval; Fitball sessions with PT and teacher Mrs Margy Hagan; tours and membership benefits with Benefitness (Fairview Park); and sessions with bodybuilding champion and past BPIHS graduate Scott Nelson. In addition to these wonderful opportunities, students also ran a fitness session for the local year 6/7 Banksia Park Primary School students and obtained their Provide First Aid course. Congratulations and well done to all this years’ successful completers and best of luck in the future. See more

06.01.2022 During week 9 of term 3 Banksia Park International High School hosted teams from 6 different schools including our own, Glenunga International, Roma Mitchell, Modbury, Golden Grove and Norwood Morialta High School. Over 3 days teams created a social enterprise aimed at adding value to our community. Two judges from Queensland zoomed in virtually to award the winning teams.
