16.01.2022 What an amazing virtual event! With attendees from across Australia as well as PNG. Thank you to our wonderful keynote speakers- Erin Sweeney and Dr Michelle Ellis, who shared their insights and amazing working within S.T.E.M. Both Michelle and Erin gave us plenty to think about on how our actions can influence the reduction of the gender pay gap into the future through not only advocacy but putting yourself out there demanding change! Fellow BPW Joondalup-Wanneroo member, Sa...ndra Cook also shared the fantastic work that eS4G is doing to empower women and showed some sobering facts on the extent of the gaps in Australia, highlighting the importance of advocacy for change! While we didn't manage to get 100% of attendees in our screenshot, the sea of red (Equal Pay Day's official colour) was a wonderful testament to the ongoing challenge to #KeepMindingTheGap and thanks to Michelle, we will also be making our best efforts to be and encourage #championscreatingchampions A very special thank you also to Kate Waters (BPW Director of Membership) for stepping in last minute due to unforeseen circumstances to lead our virtual event - thank you! 04.01.2022 BPW Joondalup-Wanneroo are proud to be hosting a FREE virtual summit next week to support Equal Pay Day. Our event is featuring two amazing women in S.T.E.M - Erin Sweeney & Dr Michelle Ellis who are going to be sharing their insights of working within the S.T.E.M area. We are also very excited to hear from fellow BPW Joondalup-Wanneroo member Sandra Cook, who is going to provide an insight into her work enabling economic security for women. Equal Pay Day (28th August 2020) r...ecognises how much longer women have to work to earn the same as men in one year. So, for every 12 months that men work, for example, women may have to work an extra 59 days and the end of those extra days is marked by Equal Pay Day. Currently, it will take 70 years to close this gap globally! In Australia, the national gender pay gaps is 14% We would love you to join us next week, and to share the event WIDELY amongst your own networks! Free tickets are available on Eventbrite - click on our event link for more information. https://www.facebook.com/events/616330352419021/
