05.01.2022 We hare extremely fortunate to have Queensland Small Business Commissioner Maree Adshead as our June Guest Speaker on Thursday June 18. Ms Adshead was announced as the Queensland Small Business Commissioner, to help small business recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of Queensland small businesses have shared their stories and experiences with me, and I know how tough things are right now, Ms Adshead said.... Many are facing challenges not seen before such as the inability to afford rent, pressure on cashflow, and many have had to find new ways to operate, this has struck at the heart of our local communities. Queensland relies on our small businesses to keep the economy moving, I am extremely pleased to be stepping into this new position to help provide much needed support for the sector to recover and rebuild. My role as Commissioner will expand on the work I have done in the previous role of Small Business Champion as an advocate and interface for small business, and will now also include additional support such as dispute resolution for small business tenants and landlords under the COVID-19 Emergency Response Act, Ms Adshead said. To register for the BPW North Lakes June Lunch follow click on the book now button on top of the page or click in the link in the comments.

02.01.2022 Equal Pay Day is next Friday August 28. Take a look at the below story as a reminder of what unpaid work for a housewife and mother looked like in 1973. Do you think it has changed?

01.01.2022 Queensland is very fortunate to have so many women carrying out invaluable work in our institutions, workplaces and communities. You are leaders, innovators and... collaborators, dedicated to supporting vulnerable people, and helping to keep our communities safe, healthy and secure. We see you and appreciate everything you do. Women have been under-represented in national honours over decades, not because they were lacking in merit, but because they were nominated in fewer numbers. Its important to recognise dedication, commitment and achievements, and to show young Queensland women that its okay to promote themselves and celebrate their successes. Youll find a list of current awards, programs and opportunities from various organisations below. Now get nominating! The Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Womens Network Strong Women Leadership Awards program celebrates the leadership strengths of women who live, work, achieve, volunteer and/or are in service of Queenslands rural, regional and remote areas. The awards across multiple categories recognise young women, and women in business, leadership, volunteering and storytelling. Entries close Friday 4 September. www.qrrrwn.org.au/strong-women-leadership-awards Women & Leadership Australia partial scholarships are available for career building leadership courses for women at all management levels.
