24.01.2022 We have had a few inquiries about the smoke around atm. This smoke is covering a large area from Stanthorpe, Warwick, Killarney and further out this way. The smoke in Stanthorpe is believed to be coming from Cunningham's gap and NSW. Remember smoke can travel great distances with the smoke from fires in NSW ending up in New Zealand. There are no new fires atm on the RFS fire map and Bracker Creek has not been called to any new fires.

13.01.2022 5:30pm Mon The sheer amount of smoke from all the relentless fires has now merged into a continuous belt stretching more than 1000 km (straightline distance) ...from southern NSW to northern SEQ. This is on top of the other smoke plumes streaming off a number of other fires burning in eastern QLD and some in eastern VIC. Many of you in SEQ probably would’ve noticed the big pall of smoke spreading across the skies as the SE wind change surged through much of this smoke has been streaming off some of the fires in NE NSW (the upper sections of these smoke plumes have been getting dragged up by the SSW winds between the low and middle levels of the atmosphere while some of the smoke lower down has been getting pushed inland after having reached SEQ), For more info about the current gusty cooler SE wind change and what’s likely over the coming days, tap or click on: https://www.facebook.com//a.2791336025/10157788404827505/ Satellite image via Weatherzone (Ken)

10.01.2022 STOP SHAKING YOUR GAS CYLINDER!!! Ever since I lost a friend through gas explosion, I haven’t stopped creating awareness about it, share as you read. Please, y...ou don't have to shake the gas cylinder to know the level of its content. What you should do is to wet a side of the cylinder with water, after a while the used top part will be dry while the lower part with gas will remain wet. The wet portion tells you the amount of gas left. Most times we shake our gas cylinders to know if it's finished or not, that's a dangerous thing to do. It could be suicidal! You can save a life today by sharing this information.

We can report that over 40 homes have been saved yesterday, which is a really great achievement by our crews in some very very challenging conditions. - Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES. QFES: Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises there is a bushfire in the vicinity of Cypress Gardens and Forest Ridge (Millmerran) and conditions are getting worse. Follow your bushfire survival plan now. If you do not have a plan, your safest option is to leave now if it is clear to do so. If you are not in the area, do not return, as conditions are too dangerous. Currently as at 1.30pm Thursday 5 December, a large fire is burning in the vicinity of Cypress Avenue, Wallaby Drive, Koala Drive, Paddys Creek Road, Thyme Avenue, Basil Drive, Sage Road, Rosemary Court, Bay Road, Kimberley Drive and the Gore Highway, Cypress Gardens. It has impacted these roads and could have a significant impact on the community. Crews will continue working to strengthen containment lines throughout the day. Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door. The evacuation centre at the Millmerran Community Cultural Centre, 42 Walpole Street, Millmerran, is no longer open. An evacuation centre is now open at the Millmerran Showgrounds, Millmerran Cecil Plains Road, Millmerran. The Gore Highway is closed between Cypress Gardens and the BP at Captains Mountain.
