21.01.2022 For a Matrix Mould you first create the rigid outer shell or flask, then introduce the softer and more fluid molding material between the shell and the prototype. In short make a fibreglass jacket then pour in silicone. This requires covering your sculpture in a layer of clay about a cm thick, fibreglassing over this til dry, remove jacket and plasticine, place jacket over your sculpture using your guide lines, seal, pour in silicone to set with enough vents to allow the air to be pushed out whilst pouring. When done well you get an excellent mould. This is a laborious process and a reminder that art doesnt grow on trees. 17.01.2022 Can finally reveal what I’ve been working on during the second lockdown. I made some shopfront statues 10 years ago for @eagle_leather and had suggested an update for a new era. They expressed a desire to be more inclusive so a male and female version was designed. I’m a much better sculptor now and these pieces were crazy fun to make but not without challenges. Relief sculpture is very different to traditional and I learnt a lot. Some videos of the process will be coming soon but very happy with how they turned out.
