25.01.2022 It's still Fire Danger Season in most of SA, so if you're thinking of having a backyard campfire or bonfire for warmth/comfort at home over the long weekend the...re are things that you need to consider. You can have one, providing: - the fire is in a 30cm deep trench and no more than one square metre in area - you have a 4 metre cleared space around and above the fire - a responsible person is in attendance at all times with water/an appropriate extinguisher. Please note that only charcoal is allowed to be burnt for comfort fires within a metropolitan area or within township boundaries by the EPA Legislation. Check with your local council before lighting a comfort fire. The use of above ground fires such as chimineas, fire drums, braziers are only permitted with the use of permits. #StopTheSpread #StaySafe #StayHome

25.01.2022 Quick save at Scott Creek tonight after a burn was picked up by the wind

24.01.2022 SA Country Fire Service has issued a Total Fire Ban for the Mount Lofty Ranges on Wednesday, April 15. CFS State Duty Commander Brett Loughlin said it is a hig...hly dynamic time in South Australia with the COVID-19 pandemic, however the public should be reassured CFS crews are ready to respond to any emergency. People living in the Mount Lofty Ranges need to review their Bushfire Survival Plans with current directions in mind. We have been in talks today with SA Police and SA Health about how people should respond if a bushfire starts near them, Mr Loughlin said. If you have been directed to self-isolate and there is a bushfire emergency near you, you are allowed to leave your property to travel to your closest Bushfire Safer Place available on the website. ONLY LEAVE IF IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. You must not congregate with others at that Bushfire Safer Place. IF IT IS NOT SAFE TO LEAVE solid buildings provide protection from bushfire. If people are found to leave their property without a valid reason, they will be investigated by police. For more information about bushfires, call the Bushfire Information Line on 1800 362 361. For information about COVID-19 and bushfires, call the COVID-19 Information line on 1800 253 787.

19.01.2022 Yesterday a crew from Mylor CFS including a member from Bradbury CFS helped DEW conduct the prescribed burn off of Stock Road. This is good training for our firefighters as it prepares them for the upcoming fire season!

14.01.2022 An Open Letter to the South Australian community: The 2019/20 Fire Danger Season officially finishes at midnight tonight, finalising one of the busiest seasons ...in our history. The CFS really started our season in September, more than a month before our own season officially started, as a horrendous start to the season in Queensland and New South Wales saw local crews stretched to their limits. Over the next three months until after Christmas, CFS dedicated more than 1,300 volunteer firefighter and incident management personnel to help these two states battle unprecedented bushfires. Unfortunately this was only the start of our efforts this season with our own fires burning in catastrophic conditions near Port Lincoln and Yorketown in November, followed by the large fires in Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island in December and January. These were only a handful of the thousands of fires our CFS volunteers attended throughout the fire season with large fires in every Region from Keilira in the South East, Coonalpyn, Miltalie on the Eyre Peninsula and unfortunately too many others to name. I took up the role of Chief Officer in October last year and was very quickly impressed by the professionalism and commitment of our many volunteers. This year in particular they gave up so much of their time, put their lives on the line and worked so hard to not only protect their local communities but travel throughout South Australia and interstate to help others. Thanks must also go to the South Australian community who heeded our warning messages at the beginning of the season and prepared their homes against bushfire threat. Unfortunately too many homes were lost with a total of 179 burned this season, many simply because of the ferocity of the fires. The CFS bitterly regrets those losses and the tragic loss of 3 South Australians during the worst of the Fire Danger Season. The community also listened and acted when we issued warning messages. Those three lives lost to bushfires this year is three too many. However, I am thankful that we were able to provide timely and accurate warnings to the communities impacted so they could make safe decisions for themselves and their families. Thank you also to the communities for supporting us and each other throughout the fires. To see the generosity to our firefighters, especially on Christmas Day brought warmth to the heart. Thank you to all of those who have since had bake sales, fundraisers or simply donated to the CFS Foundation. That money will go towards supporting our volunteers in their time of need. I also want to thank CFS staff and our supporting agencies, SA Metropolitan Fire Services, SA State Emergency Service, Department for Environment and Water, SAPOL and all other organisations who contributed. The ability for those staff to get on with the job and provide results is testament to their abilities. At the moment we are continuing to help South Australians by being embedded in the State Command Centre for Health, managing the COVID-19 pandemic in this State. Only days after the request came through, our teams were at SA Health to support them as they faced a health emergency of unknown scale and duration. We knew anything we could do to support them as the control agency had to be a good thing. Of course the work does not end here. Our volunteers continue to attend structure fires, hazardous material incident, road crashes and to assist other agencies, as their work continues. I thank them for their amazing efforts and urge the community to continue to practice fire safety as we move into the winter months, and be careful on our roads. I dearly hope that more normal times will resume once the Coronavirus crisis has passed but South Australians can be assured that its Firefighters remain ready and available to answer calls for help whatever the challenges we face. Mark Jones, Chief Officer SA Country Fire Service

13.01.2022 These planes are so valuable in the early stages of a fire but the hard work of ground crew long continues #cfs

12.01.2022 After many weeks of difficult work on Kangaroo Island the last mainland fleet has returned on the ferry tonight including BRADBURY 14. It needs a lot of TLC and a major service but we are sure it will be back on line soon.

10.01.2022 Today is RU OK DAY. It’s been a very challenging year so far. Please check in with your family, friends and neighbours because sometimes we could all do with someone to chat to. #TAKECARE #RUOKDAY

08.01.2022 This weekend's weather might make the Fire Danger Season seem like lifetime away, but it won’t take long for the environment to dry out once we hit some hot wea...ther. Rather than making your home preparedness a stressful task, start taking steps now to clean up ahead of Summer. A well prepared home: - can be easier for you or firefighters to defend - is more likely to survive, even if you're not there - is less likely to put your neighbours' homes at risk - will give you more protection if a fire threatens suddenly and you cannot leave and have to take shelter For more information visit: www.cfs.sa.gov.au//prep/prepare_your_home_and_property.jsp

07.01.2022 Bushfire Safer Places are generally areas that are populated or developed, such as the centres of major townships and suburbs, where there is a reduced fuel loa...d and/or enough building density to halt a bushfire. While smoke and embers can still be a concern in Bushfire Safer Places, being in these places can provide the best chance of surviving a major fire event. Properties on the edge of these locations generally face a higher level of risk compared with those nearer the centre of the area. 07.01.2022 Local crews are busy

07.01.2022 Well what can we say, another busy day. This time in our local area, 3rd alarm grass fire. Bradbury crews still on the fire ground and just had a delivery of freshly cooked muffins from a community member. Even had a koala rescue.

05.01.2022 Locals, George, Violet and Jack Walsh of Bradbury have been selling plants at their roadside stall. They recently called into the station to donate $70 from their plant sales to the Brigade. Thanks kids plus a big thanks to mum and dad for bringing you out on a chilly night. The children’s stall is located on Longwood Road not far from the fire station if you are driving past and need a plant

04.01.2022 Come along and suppprt local tomorrow.

03.01.2022 Another team effort today at Clarendon fire. Please, please, please take care when using angle grinders

03.01.2022 Total Fire Bans have been declared in 8 Fire Ban Districts tomorrow. In light of the COVID-19 advice, we are seeing some changes in how we work as a community.... However, please know that CFS firefighters and aircraft will still be responded if a fire starts, or they receive a call for assistance from the community. Now is a good time though, to ensure your Bushfire Survival Plan is up to date. If you have changed your routine, adjust your plan and know what you will do, should a fire start near you. Before midnight, please ensure all burn offs have been fully extinguished with water and continue to closely monitor them throughout the next day.

03.01.2022 Bushfire Last Resort Refuges are your LAST choice of location to shelter from a bushfire. A Bushfire Last Resort Refuge is a space or building which you could g...o to and remain in during a bushfire in your area. These are generally ovals or other open spaces signposted throughout smaller towns and communities across the state. It is a location that provides a minimum level of protection from the immediate life threatening effects of radiant heat and direct flame contact in a bushfire. A Bushfire Last Resort Refuge is intended to provide a place of relative safety during a bushfire. It does not guarantee the survival of those who assemble there. You should only use a Bushfire Last Resort Refuge when your personal Bushfire Survival Plans cannot be implemented or have failed. Find out more about Bushfire Last Resort Refuges and familiarise yourself with the closest locations at: http://ow.ly/ACKL50BHlWv
