25.01.2022 Good morning. If you are collecting hens from the Bradford collection point on Saturday, you have an email with the details of the collection in your inbox. Please read it carefully and reply. You also have an attachment which lays out the rationale as to why the rehoming does not contravene lockdown rules. I would say 'see you on Saturday' but to maintain social distancing we will only speak on the phone!

25.01.2022 No need to panic but time to take sensible precautions. https://www.gov.uk//avian-influenza-bird-flu-national-prev

24.01.2022 YOUR HENS ARE ON THEIR WAY! 2948 gorgeous hens caught, crated and loaded onto our wagons in 2 hours and 46 seconds exactly!!! ... Fantastic farm team this morning, thank you all for your hard work. <3 All the vans are off the farm and on the way to start their deliveries (after a short break for a McDonald's breakfast) The barn is empty and your lovely birds are looking forward to starting the first day of the rest of their lives with YOU

24.01.2022 Apologies if you have sent a message to this page, for some reason we are unable to view the message page at the moment . If you need to contact Bradford fresh start for hens please try a direct message to Dawn Roberts

23.01.2022 It's nearly time!! If you are collecting hens tomorrow, this is a reminder about the type of containers that are and are not suitable. If you're using cardboard boxes please remember to make a narrow 'letterbox' style slit in each side of the box; not so big that a hen can get her head through but big enough to ensure good ventilation. Holes poked through just don't allow enough air in. Follow all the instructions you've been given to help us to stay Covid safe. Thank you so much for offering a home to these lovely ladies.

23.01.2022 Hello everyone. I thought it would be useful to let you know the situation with regard to fresh start for hens rehomings. All of our advertised dates have been postponed for now. We don't know when we will be able to restart rehomings but as soon as we do information will be posted on this page and on the main freshstartforhens.co.uk page. The farmer who booked us for the next two rehomings has said she can keep her hens, so we don't need to worry about what will happen to... them. This is unfortunately not the case for all the farmers who work with us, so we will restart as soon as it is safe. For now, stay safe - stay at home. If you are a key worker and still working, thank you for your service.

22.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who collected hens from the Bradford collection point today. It's a challenge to keep covid secure but it's very important that we do everything we can to keep everyone safe. I hope that nobody felt unhappy with the way we dealt with it, I am very concerned that we don't do anything to break the rules so we can carry on rehoming. Thank you so much for saving the lives of these hens, you are all amazing, 96 feathery ladies off to new homes xx

19.01.2022 May I give you some facts and figures about rehomings? When you reserve and we send you an offer of a rehome date (email 1), if you just reply "yes" this then generates (manually) another email (2) to ask you for both pictures and donation (which was in the first email).. If you then send in pictures without the piece of paper (with your name, date and collection point name) and donation- email number 3. If we then get pictures but no donation- email 4. if you then send the...Continue reading

10.01.2022 Want to know how to make perfect poached eggs? Get some hens!!! Look at the difference using a really fresh egg can make

08.01.2022 We have our first rehoming since March happening tomorrow! There's quite a waiting list as you can imagine, and tomorrow's rehomers are the ones who have been waiting the longest. Now we're back in business we will soon get through the list, so if you've been waiting for a while, don't despair it won't be too long now, keep you eyes open for the next date in October (covid permitting of course). Tomorrow's ladies are caged hens, kept all their egg laying lives inside a cage w...ith around 60 others. In sheds with a few hundred other cages the same. We are grateful that the farmer cares enough to allow us to rehome them, because it would be easier to just send them into the food chain. Farmers only farm in this way to satisfy demand, so if the photos of how these hens live upsets you, why not think about not buying the cheapest eggs for a change, but if your budget allows, try free range ones where the hens have a better existence? 04.01.2022 The hens are on their way!!! They've spent their last night in a cage, and today they'll see the Yorkshire sunshine and feel the earth, rather than wire, under their feet. Come on girls, you're in for a wonderful life now!!!

04.01.2022 Not long now, the lovely feathery ladies are on their way from the south to God's own county. All running to time if you've reserved to collect from Bradford x

02.01.2022 Some of our wonderful farmers are holding onto their hens that were due to be rehomed during the lockdown. They are doing this at their own expense, rather than sending them to slaughter. This means that when the lockdown is over, we are going to have thousands of hens that will need rehoming quickly. If you are interested in rehoming you can still register by going to www.freshstartforhens.co.uk and completing the form which will pop you onto the waiting list and our reserv...ations team will be in contact. This will also help us to allocate homes as quickly as possible. Please can we ask you to like and share this post around family and friends as this will help us with spreading the word more quickly and easily as soon as we are able to start rehoming. Lastly from me & the rest of the team, stay safe and I'll see you once we're back rehoming Dawn Hastings Fresh Start For Hens
