25.01.2022 It was such an inspiring discussion on Sunday about all the ways that we can create new opportunities while addressing climate change. Thanks to everyone who came along. However, it makes the McGowan governments climate announcement all the more disappointing... The only way we will see bold action on climate in WA is with more Greens in parliament. Bring on March 2021 - we have no time to waste!!

23.01.2022 Despite being in Government for four long years, WA Labor are only now planning to release their climate policy... So how will it measure up? WA Labor have been disappointing on climate action to date. Over the past 5 years WA’s emissions have actually gone up by 12%. We’re the only state that hasn’t reduced it’s emissions below 2005 levels, and we’re the only state without a legislated Renewable energy and net-zero emissions target and we’re the state with the highest per-...capita emissions. We’ve got a lot of work to do to avert the climate catastrophe. With that in mind, here’s what we’d like to see in WA Labor’s state climate policy. What would you like to see? #ClimateEmergency #XRWA #ExtinctionRebellion

22.01.2022 Taxing EVs is one of the dumbest ideas I have heard if we want to address transport related carbon emissions Emissions from transportation have been growing consistently since 1990 and amount to 20% of Australia's total emissions. Of this, road transport is the dominant contributor and has been growing consistently since 1990.... Of this, cars are the biggest contributor, followed by heavy duty vehicles, then light commercial vehicles, all of which have been growing consistently since 1990. Business as usual on our roads presents a challenge to emissions mitigation ambitions across the economy. Clearly Australia needs to immediately accelerate policy interventions to increase the sales of EVs (and drive down sales of ICE vehicles). This tax will do the opposite. 21.01.2022 Meet Bill Hare from Climate Analytics and Murdoch Uni. We’ll be coming to you live in a few minutes from the Freo Town Hall as we discuss speeding up the transition to a low carbon future...

20.01.2022 Nobody should be without a home. 133 people have died on Perth’s streets in the last four years. Their average age is 47 about my age. WA was the only state to leave out homeless on the street during COVID. Homeless numbers have doubled in the last 6 months. Many more will die unless there is stronger action. Despite this the state government has put no new resources into addressing homelessness.... What COVID has shown us is that governments can act fast. We now need investment in crisis support and a long term, funded plan social housing. For action that cares about community - Vote Green.

20.01.2022 The Climate Emergency is upon us, yet the old parties are failing to act. We need to listen to the experts and respond to the science. I’ll be joined by three experts today at 4pm. I hope you can join our informed and optimistic conversation about where to from here

20.01.2022 This is deeply concerning... We're facing another summer of bushfires compounded by extreme weather conditions driven by climate change. WA needs to take strong action on climate change instead of propping up the very industries that are causing it. Stay safe this bushfire season and join the campaign to take action on climate change this summer at https://greens.org.au/wa/volunteer

20.01.2022 WA Labor has finally released its climate policy, which appears to do nothing to tackle climate change - in fact it actively undermines global efforts to cut emissions by allowing our state’s carbon pollution to keep rising. Without addressing the drastically rising emissions from the LNG industry, without legislated interim emissions reduction targets and renewable energy targets, and without a carbon budget, this policy provides no real strategy on how this government will... effectively reduce emissions. Instead, WA Labor has created a policy that allows their major fossil fuel donors to keep polluting. We are in a climate crisis. Scientists are telling us this is a critical decade. We have to halve pollution by 2030 and get to zero emissions as fast as possible or face the catastrophic consequences of irreversible global heating. As we head into what is predicted to be one of WA’s worst bushfire seasons on record, we need more than just aspirational targets from the Premier - we need action. The Greens have a plan to completely transition away from fossil fuels, to develop a large scale renewable energy industry, to ban political donations from fossil fuel companies and to create thousands of clean, green jobs. We want to propel our state into the future, but we need more Greens voices in WA Parliament to do it. We can’t do it without you - will you help us?

19.01.2022 A quick update from south metro.

17.01.2022 Good to get together with some Freo legends to wave the flag for a safe climate future.

17.01.2022 Thanks to those who joined the climate community conversation today. Here’s a short snippet

17.01.2022 Nearly two million people just had their JobSeeker payments cut by $300, and JobKeeper cuts are days away. It's a hard day. The Greens understand how difficult this is and we'll keep fighting to #raisetherate, for good.

16.01.2022 This is extraordinary and disturbing reading. Ministerial diaries, obtained through freedom of information requests showed nearly 140 instances since 2017 where the Premier and ministers met with gas companies or lobby groups. On seven occasions, the ALP received donations from these gas companies either on the day of the meeting or a short time later. Is this why WA is so limp on action on climate change?... https://www.smh.com.au//too-close-to-the-flame-wa-governme

16.01.2022 We are in a climate emergency last years bushfires was only a sign of what is to come if we don’t deal with climate change. So why is the state government putting us all at risk with a gas led recovery?

14.01.2022 Today the WA Labor Government released their long awaited climate policy. Was it worth the wait. Here’s my initial analysis

13.01.2022 With over 1 million people out of work and the climate crises bearing down on us the time for a Green New Deal has never been more important.

13.01.2022 Listen to this important message from Sir David Attenborough

12.01.2022 The WA Government is certainly making sure we are living up to the moniker 'Wait Awhile'...

12.01.2022 Hello from Hilton on a big weekend of Green action.

11.01.2022 What a weekend!! Enjoying a well deserved beer after a HUGE weekend of action. Hundreds of conversations with voters from Vic Park to Thornlie, South Perth to Freo... all of whom want action on climate change and to restore integrity in politics. ... Feeling energized With Dorinda Cox and Liberty Cramer, Greens candidate for Fremantle

10.01.2022 Liberal and Labor have been taking donations from the fossil fuel industry and then come up with a gas led recovery. Democracy is for sale under the major parties and we must stamp out political donations from the fossil fuel sector. https://greens.org.au/wa/campaigns/democracy-not-sale

10.01.2022 That’s what I call committed door knocking. Thanks Liberty Cramer, Greens candidate for Fremantle and team.

10.01.2022 Gas isn’t the solution. Not at a federal or state level.

09.01.2022 My letter, published in the Sound Telegraph, talks about the poor planning currently underway in Port Kennedy, and how better outcomes can be achieved when the community is involved in the planning process early. Government should know better by now! With the Port Kennedy Progress Association

07.01.2022 Spent a great afternoon with the Freo #GreenTeam talking to voters in the valley

06.01.2022 Did you know Australia is not yet a signatory to the International Treaty for the Prohibition of nuclear weapons? Today is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. With over 13,000 nukes still in existence we must sign this treaty and be part of global nuclear disarmament. We must also stop the nuclear supply chain that these disastrous weapons rely on - that means banning uranium mining in WA and the rest of Australia. #banthebomb ... #stopthenuclearsupplychain #banuraniummining See more

06.01.2022 An event worth putting in the diary now!
