25.01.2022 Finally after a few major setbacks and surgery over the last 2 years for Pia, she has finally foaled a Soda Justice colt foal. Was born a little early and suffered meconium impaction which needed vet treatment, but should now be fighting fit. Any one wanna guess what colour he'll be. Bay mare and Bay sire.
25.01.2022 A huge shout out to Ben and the team at Australian Stockmans Saddlery for their brilliant work. I ordered a good looking, tough, breaking saddle and they went above and beyond to help and were only to happy to please, even when i asked if he could fit a flank girth on it for educating breakers. It's exactly what i wanted and super comfy. I would highly recommend having a chat to them if you're in the market for a new saddle.
15.01.2022 Groover is the latest breaker ready to go home. He's by Old Doc Moore out of a good lindsay mare. Thanks Jeff and Kym Liddle for sending him to me, he's been a pretty special horse to ride.
13.01.2022 Another qaulity gelding ready to go home. He's by Kirby Stud Omaha out of an Acres mare. Thanks to Andromeda Cattle Co for your quality horses.
09.01.2022 Well one breaker went home. Another nice breaker turns up. But in between all that ive been itching to start work with bazil. One of my own geldings. He's out of my good old mare Spice and sired by Moon Dox. Half brother to Meg. He's coming along great.
07.01.2022 I Have a few days down time between breakers. So Houdini has come in for a refresher before his little mates Baz, Ben and Jerry come in to be broken at the end of the year.

Thank you for your consideration! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More about Lead Changes Remember too, that you aren't teaching your horse anything artificial, in fact, the flying lead changes probably one of the most natural things you`ll work on - they do it all the time when they're out running - while you don't see a lot of turnarounds out in the pasture! Some horses are easier to teach the change to than others are. Short - necked horses with heavy shoulders are more difficult than athletic horses with a more uphill built. However, don't be lulled into a false sense of security by the horse who is a natural changer. The horse has to learn the mechanics of the lead change, otherwise how will you fix it when something goes wrong. Basically, you would be working without a net because the horse would have zero fundamentals to fall back on. The thing that makes the trained leave change more controlled is that we will condition the horse to change hip first so that the front end will follow naturally. If we did it the other way around, focusing our efforts on changing the front end, there is a very high probability that the backend wouldn't change at all, or would catch up a few strides later, and that just isn't acceptable with today's level of competition. I almost always teach the lead change from the counter counter. Teaching the lead change by going across the middle of the pen can cause anticipation problems on both the horse and rider's part. The middle of the pen will start to turn into a war zone If you have any problems. You don't want that to happen because it can continue to be a hot area for a long time. Also, if your horse is not broke enough to counter-canter comfortably in both directions around the arena he is certainly not broke enough to do a lead change. Starting the lead change from the counter canter also gives the rider more time to set the horse up for the change. There are a lot of things for both horse and rider to think about, and having a little more time can make this new maneuver less stressful to both. I start the horse counter cantering - in collected canter - about 20 feet inside the rail, which gives me room to maneuver the shoulders and hindquarters. He should be softly flexed so that his nose is over his leading outside knee. Tomorrow we will show you a diagram and the steps for setting your horse up for a lead change. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for nice comments: "Been following your accomplishments since I was a kid.
