22.01.2022 Some really good LED stage wash lighting fixtures added to our hire inventory. And Ela says at 4 x 100W COD LEDs per fixture, these units are very bright and very colourful....

22.01.2022 A message for Darwin's community non profit groups.... I am starting to get a bit fed up with some folks from a few community groups continually screwing me down from what is already the most competitive pricing for quality production and hire services .... pushing for more and more cheap pricing... A large proportion of my work is for non profit community organizations....in fact, I started my business 11 years ago, specifically to look after community groups with pro sta...ndard production at affordable rates .... For quite some time every job I quote on they (usually the same folks) want a cheap... charity price. Community groups are not charity and have no reason to expect major discounts like I offer... Before I started my business community groups paid inflated prices for often poor service with all local audio production businesses keeping prices high. I changed that by offering professional standard production at affordable pricing. Then some community groups push for more and more cheap... to the point where my prices are similar to 10 years ago and my business runs at a loss. Yes, some community groups may be relatively poor due to low membership fees or poor management..... but a large percentage of the members are wealthy people. Check out the car park at any community gig.... 50% of cars are worth $50K - $100K + each, 40% worth $25K -$50K and maybe 10% old cheap cars... . My van is 15years old, my wife's car is 14 years old and we are poor .... which is why I still work at 71 years old.... When ill health forces me out of business, you guys will have to start paying market rates for production or hire services.... prepare to pay double in the not too distant future....

16.01.2022 Sometimes I get unexpected requests for urgently required gear... nothing more unexpected than a request from Toni Childs ( the popular American singer/songwriter from the 1980's).... Toni is on tour in the Northern Territory for singing and yoga workshops when her DPA headset microphone died..... luckily she has a Sennheiser transmitter.... I had 4 headset mics to suit. Very happy to help out one of my all time favourite artists while she is in Darwin.

04.01.2022 Below we see 2 photos of QSC K-subs as part of larger PAs returned from dry hire..... 1 pa was hired for a 28 day tour with an 11 piece band through Arnhem land in the NT..... 12 concerts over 4 weeks in very dusty conditions.... (People I know)... The other PA was hired to a DJ for one night (please note: I have many friends who are DJs..... nice folks, good entertainers)..... One client returned the gear in a disgraceful condition with $360 worth of gear missing,,,, all filthy speakers and cables in a muddy tangled mess.... The other client returned everything in a clean condition and replaced any lost cables with new upon return...every cabled rolled with Velcro ties Anyone want to hazard a guess on which gear spent 4 weeks in the bush.... or which gear was returned by a DJ after 1 night....???
