25.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day. Sometimes it is easier to go through life without asking the hard questions. Asking a friend, family member or colleague 'R U OK?' could change the course of their life. Mental health has a huge impact on peoples interaction with the Justice System - something we see regularly here at Brady and Associates. Often, people struggle on their own due to the taboos associated with asking for help.... Remember today to ask the people you care about this simple question and show them that you support them and are there for a chat.

22.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what exactly is bail? Many find it a confusing concept, especially because in Australia the laws are slightly different to what you might see on TV. Check out our new blog post written by our Principal Solicitor Amanda Brady where she explains what bail is and how it might affect the court process: http://www.bradylegal.com.au/what-is-bail/

20.01.2022 In NSW, if you disobey an order to self quarantine or attend a quarantine facility you could face a maximin penalty of an $11,000 fine and or 6 months imprisonment. The Commonwealth government also has extensive control powers to manage biosecurity threats, and yes the fines are even more substantial. Heres an article that puts it in an easily readable context. We may see a greater exercise of government powers as the coronavirus situation becomes more serious.

12.01.2022 Know your rights at festivals. Police have a lawful power to search if a dog indicates (accurately or not) that you have drugs on your person. Strip searches are entirely different. There must be a serious and urgent reason to conduct a strip search - not just an indication that you may be committing an offence. Strip searches are humiliating and degrading - last resort policing.
