25.01.2022 An interesting analysis of data from sentencing outcomes that shows a need for change in the way we deal with petty crime and driving matters in the Local Court of NSW.

24.01.2022 In NSW, if you disobey an order to self quarantine or attend a quarantine facility you could face a maximin penalty of an $11,000 fine and or 6 months imprisonment. The Commonwealth government also has extensive control powers to manage biosecurity threats, and yes the fines are even more substantial. Here’s an article that puts it in an easily readable context. We may see a greater exercise of government powers as the coronavirus situation becomes more serious.

23.01.2022 The NSW government is cutting the funding for a court diversion program that keeps people with cognitive disabilities out of prison. Please sign the petition to tell the Attorney General not to cut the funding!

21.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day. Sometimes it is easier to go through life without asking the hard questions. Asking a friend, family member or colleague 'R U OK?' could change the course of their life. Mental health has a huge impact on peoples interaction with the Justice System - something we see regularly here at Brady and Associates. Often, people struggle on their own due to the taboos associated with asking for help.... Remember today to ask the people you care about this simple question and show them that you support them and are there for a chat.

18.01.2022 A champion of equal rights has left a great legacy.

17.01.2022 Thinking of a sneaky swim down at Wattamolla? Or may be a picnic with only the nearest and dearest at Wattle Flats? The Royal has been closed for this Easter break. A reminder of restrictions in place this holiday period. Penalties of fines and imprisonment apply if we are out and about without one of the lawful excuses. #stayathome #staysafe #bradylegal

07.01.2022 As a result of the recent public health restrictions Council’s staff will be taking steps to close parks and outdoor facilities. This will include new sig...n posting and securing with barriers/tape. Council will then monitor compliance with the restrictions. Please comply with all requirements and where possible stay home to prevent the spread of the virus. Thank you to the dedicated Council staff for rolling out these changes.

05.01.2022 During the COVID-19 pandemic all Australians have experienced a different way of life: lockdown. But how has this affected Domestic Violence? Statistics show that Domestic Violence is on the rise during the pandemic and there may be a need for changing our Domestic Violence Laws in NSW. The newest member of our team at Brady Legal, Andrew, has written a blog post diving further into this topic. Check it out at: https://bradylegal.com.au/domestic-violence-laws/

01.01.2022 We often get asked about a person's rights if they are stopped by Police. Do you have to provide Police with your identity information? The answer to that question changes depending on the context of the situation. Check out our blog post that goes into depth about your rights if you are ever stopped by the Police. https://bradylegal.com.au/identity-information/
