24.01.2022 DESIGNING A LAUNDRY A laundry needs to be one of the most practical rooms in your new home. Custom Builders will have lots of designs and pictures to show you, but you need to decide exactly what you want your laundry to do for you. Storage, bench space, the type of washing machine, a steam or regular iron and ironing space, a place for wet shoes and jackets and maybe even more. I suggest starting with your washing machine choice. Front or top loader? Front loaders seem to be the current choice of most people. Front loaders have an advantage in your laundry as they fit under a bench giving you additional bench space. According to many young people I know, you no longer need to sort your laundry with a front loader me, I’m not so sure! http://braewood.com.au/laundry-design/
23.01.2022 How Big Should A Bedroom Be? Tricky question! Whose bedroom are we talking, the kids or ours? Let’s start with the adults’ bedroom. What else do you want to do in your bedroom? No I am not talking about that.... What other things? Do you want your bedroom to be a retreat from the family a timeout area if you like? Do you want a television? Oh I hope not! You won’t need space for storage of your clothes they will be in your beautifully designed built in robe or maybe even dressing room. Your ensuite will cover all your needs in the bathing area. So what is left? Ample size for your King bed and an area for one or two occasional chairs and a table hopefully with a nice view. http://braewood.com.au/bedrooms/
23.01.2022 STORAGE Is there ever too much? What a question! The answer has to be ‘no’. You can never have too much storage, we all have a lot of ‘stuff’ in this material age. I’m not thinking about hoarders but just normal families like yours and mine. When we think about storage our thoughts go to garages and sheds but that is not the storage I’m talking about, I want to discuss the storage inside your new home. Every home has basic storage: laundry cupboards, wardrobes and kitchen ...cupboards. At Braewood Homes, we can design your home to maximize interior storage and make your home more functional. http://braewood.com.au/storage/ See more

16.01.2022 Who Do You Call I was part of a discussion on the weekend about house design. Different people had different views about where to go first. I have to admit that I got quite confused. Three professions were discussed Architects, Designers and Decorators. Decorators and/or Stylists are the wonderful people who can turn your very ordinary lounge room into a show piece. Give them a room and a budget and they will repaint, redecorate and style your room to make it beautiful. They won’t renovate your bathroom or kitchen, for that task you need a Designer. http://braewood.com.au/who-to-call/
13.01.2022 Money Saving Choices When you plan your new home, it might be a good time to make some decisions that could save you money in the future. The Braewood Design Team have many suggestions to save you energy and money. Last week we mentioned double glazed windows, orientation of your home, energy saving appliances, solar panels and so on. This week Current Affair reported on an experiment they conducted with three families to see if the combination of solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall (battery) would actually save money on their electricity bills. The results were amazing. Over three months, including Summer use of air conditioning, they all made very significant savings. All the bills were below $50, with one family actually getting a payment from the electricity company. http://braewood.com.au/saving-money/
