21.01.2022 This morning we held a small award ceremony for our unit members for the past 12 months. the awards are trophies Most call outs -Vicki Page Most improved -Mel Potter Best what the - Julie Reynolds... We also had 5 bush fire citations to award for the 19-20 fire season awardees are Matthew Talbott Julie Reynolds Bill Webster Jen Moraga Samantha Moore Also our Unit Commander received his long service award 5 Year award - Matthew Talbott we congratulate all members who received certificates, citations and awards for the continuing support to the SES and local community.

19.01.2022 Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS for people in Snowy Mountains and parts of South Coast, Southern Tablelands and Australian Capital Territory Districts. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 80 to 100 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 120 km/h are likely for Alpine areas above 1900 metres. For areas below 1900 metres over parts of the Snowy Mountains and ACT, winds may average 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h on Monday morning. The greatest risk of damaging winds is along ridges. Winds are expected to ease on Monday afternoon. Locations which may be affected include Perisher Valley, Thredbo, Cabramurra, Braidwood, Cooma, Bombala, Bredbo, Adaminaby and Nimmitabel. 13.01.2022 From the Bureau of Meteorology: Thunderstorms are possible over most of NSW and ACT today, becoming severe with damaging gusts in central & eastern areas in the afternoon and evening, a low risk of large hail and heavy rain. Storms will clear from the southwest during the day.

11.01.2022 Severe Thunderstorm Warning for DAMAGING WINDS For people in South Coast, South West Slopes, Riverina, Lower Western, Snowy Mountains, Australian Capital Territory and parts of Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains and Upper Western Forecast Districts. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Batemans Bay, Canberra, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Deniliquin and Hay.... The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. 09.01.2022 This afternoon our unit commander was invited to Braidwood Rural Fire Service for a thank you afternoon for the fires 12 months ago. Along for the afternoon was Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons from Resilience NSW. 05.01.2022 Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS For people in Illawarra, Snowy Mountains and parts of Hunter, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Australian Capital Territory Forecast Districts. A low pressure trough is entering southwestern New South Wales and will track east during Sunday. Vigorous northwesterly winds are expected to develop ahead of this system.... For areas below 1900 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h, with gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are expected to develop about the ranges during Sunday morning. These will likely extend to the coastal parts of the Illawarra, South Coast and the Lower Hunter during the late morning or early afternoon. Winds are expected to ease in Alpine areas during Sunday afternoon, and in remaining parts by Sunday evening.
