13.01.2022 #SuccessMindset Could mental health be related to food health? "It is now known that many mental health conditions are caused by inflammation in the brain which... ultimately causes our brain cells to die. This inflammatory response starts in our gut and is associated with a lack of nutrients from our food such as magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics, vitamins and minerals that are all essential for the optimum functioning of our bodies." 10.01.2022 Nearly 30 years ago, afew sad events happened in our family and my dad became mentally ill. Until then, he had successfully run his own building business and had plenty of work. He didn’t need to advertise much as people knew him and work came via word of mouth. Dad was your typical family man, working long hours, six days most weeks to support his family which consisted of my mum, my two sisters and myself....Continue reading

04.01.2022 I'm heading to New Zealand this week to officially launch my book in my hometown of Christchurch. People often ask me who my publisher is, and those unfamiliar ...with the publishing industry often scratch their heads when I say "Hachette" (till I list off a few of their more well-known authors e.g. Stephen King, Malcolm Gladwell & Barbara Kingsolver). Today I found out I'm in most excellent kiwi company. I share a publisher with THE kiwi classic - the Edmonds Cookbook!! (quite frankly, you can't call yourself a kiwi unless you've got one of these in your kitchen). See more

04.01.2022 "Patients and their families adopt the fatalistic attitude that dementia is an inevitable consequence of aging." But it's not - we know we can prevent cognitive decline today. Big Pharma won't save our brains, but we can.

03.01.2022 Having lived with depression since my teens, I have always found exercise to be an important part of staying well. For me it’s gym (running, weights & a mix of classes), bootcamp, walking, dancing & volleyball, sometimes alittle yoga. Our brains need to be cared for with the right fuel, plenty of water, enough sleep & regular exercise.... Yes there’s a lot more to it of course but this is a good start. What form of exercise works for you?

03.01.2022 Yes, food is medicine - and medicine plays a big role in your mental health and mood. We’ve known that for a while, but it’s great to see the institutions beginning to catch up, right?
