25.01.2022 Love this! Especially when I can put neural pathways into context by saying, those little lines in the experience box? Grow stronger each time you complete a task. Also very cool to think that the little dots representing knowledge - demonstrates the true roadmap of the brain where different types of knowledge is stored all over the brain. The connectivity allows us to access information we need, based on environment and context. #IFLSCIENCE #neuroscience #neuro #neuroplasticity #medicine #selfaware #selfcare #knowledge #experience #medicalscience

23.01.2022 This is my niece. Shes curious, head strong, and always honest. Ive been trying to decide where to go with this page/blog, and for some reason I think of her. I want her to stay the way she is, when she grows up. I want her to feel like she can be smart AND beautiful. I want her to keep the dynamism that makes her so special. But how can we protect that? (How does my sister protect that, for her daughter?) I dont have the answer. But Im determined to figure it out. I created this page because I wanted to inspire people to envy less, learn more, grow, feel motivated....so they too, could keep that spark of their own. But how? . . . #lost #wanderer #dreams #dreambig #ambition #goals #girlboss #smartwomen #inspired #motivated #motivation #friday #weekendvibes #happiness #happy

22.01.2022 Welcome to the new year! Are you ready to adopt a culture of self-empowerment? No more excuses No more relying on others to give you what you need ... Use education to better understand yourself and the world On rare occasions, I allow myself a few minutes to read comments on social, or pay attention to the low level conversations that I usually avoid. During those few minutes, I feel an immediate sense of sadness for those involved, frustration, and disappointment. (Hence my avoidance!) I see people who blame anyone else for their problems. I see people who are severely uneducated OR misinformed, passing judgement on others. I see a lack of compassion, entirely. I see people most of all, confirming the stereotypes inflicted on them, by the way they conduct themselves. If I had time or energy for such ineffective conversations, I'd no doubt be adding my advice; Speak, if you're an expert. Listen, if you're not. Learn, if you want to be.
22.01.2022 Seeking suggestions: best app for editing videos? This day had the best intentions but Im so not in the mood for it! Ive been filming videos for my website and just falling very out of love with my voice and hand gestures. Can anyone relate?
22.01.2022 How does your brain help your strength training? I've just put together this quick run down of the process! Click to read more, and good luck to those getting back into the gym. #doms #mindovermuscle https://brainsparksco.com.au/mind-over-muscle/
21.01.2022 The other day, I mentioned I was doing some light reading The paper was about a link between ‘cognitive reserve’ (the brain ability to resist damage), and the years of education attained throughout life. In simple terms; highly educated people have brains that are more defensive against degeneration. Wow! They talked about things like better immunity, and more efficient synapse. Why is this important? Well, in order to understand how we can prevent neurodegenerative disease, we could try to understand the brain’s natural defence against it. 20.01.2022 You've probably heard of the Nobel Prize? And no doubt you associate it with prestige, intelligence, and honour, for good reason; it was developed 'for the greatest benefit to mankind'. But did you know how it was created? And why Alfred Nobel left majority of his wealth to establish the prizes? "In 1888, Alfred's brother, Ludvig, died while visiting Cannes, and a French newspaper mistakenly published Alfred's obituary. It condemned him for his invention of military explosi...ves (not, as is commonly quoted, dynamite, which was mainly used for civilian applications) and is said to have brought about his decision to leave a better legacy after his death. The obituary stated, Le marchand de la mort est mort ("The merchant of death is dead") and went on to say, "Dr. Alfred Nobel, who became rich by finding ways to kill more people faster than ever before, died yesterday." Alfred (who never had a wife or children) was disappointed with what he read and concerned with how he would be remembered." - Source: Wikipedia Don't wait until your life is over to do something good. Do something good now.

15.01.2022 What is this book club all about? Each month, we read a book. Towards the end of the month, we get together to chat about it, what questions it raised for us, and how we think we could use it. How to join: go to Groups on this page, and request to join. Or, head to brainsparksco.com.au and subscribe to my emails. Then youll see the book club info, and lots more! ... Why am I doing this? My biggest goal with Brain Sparks was to help people better understand their brains, and use that information to make great life decisions. If you were to read all the books I recommend for the next say, 6 months, you would be HUGELY more informed You would have a whole new area of knowledge, and I guarantee youll want to learn more.... Theres one more thing - In a world of frayed relationships, negative media, and of course, social distancing, I think its going to wreak havoc on mental health. What if we can create a place online that is more inclusive, not less. And more encouraging, not judgmental. And more focused on learning, than dumbing down. That would be the best possible outcome, in my opinion. A place where you can all belong.

10.01.2022 Short story. Kind of. I knew a super intelligent girl, with lots of great qualities. She was great at her job, but also had an eye for design, so her Instagram account looked stunning. She wasnt satisfied. She told me she REALLY wanted to be an Influencer. I couldnt believe my ears; why would such an awesome, talented chick rest her goals on something she cant control? ... Dreaming of influencing is not a problem, in fact, its quite common now. But a better goal would be, dreaming of making great content. Dreaming of producing something people can use. Or is entertaining. You control what you do with your time. You cant control if people like it. Take the power back. B x See more
10.01.2022 Think you dont have time to read? Let me help you with some numbers... Average time to read a page is 60 seconds This months book is 304 pages long (thats 304 minutes of reading/5 hrs & 7 mins) ... For a time investment of say, 15 pages per day (15 minutes), you could finish the book in 20 days. Average time spent on social media in Australia is 6 x hours per week (or 2 hours per DAY for females 14-24) If you spent the same time reading as social, you would finish the book in less than a week. Have you joined Book Club yet?
09.01.2022 This is the face of a girl about to seriously pivot. Read on! When I started this page I was so excited about Neuro, that I just wanted to share everything all at once. I dont regret it. And Ive shifted my focus a few times since then, all in ways that has helped me learn and grow this idea in so many ways. Im still going to do the Neuro thing here. But for the next 9 months or so, youll be coming along for the ride. I have to finish my last 24 weeks of study! ... Ill be documenting anything cool Im doing or learning, and along the way youll definitely still pick up fun facts (I only have Neuro major courses to take now...) If this isnt your thing, Ill understand. But I hope youll follow my crazy year, so we can celebrate (virtually) together in November after my final exam EVERRRR. Probably not because Ill be an eternal student but whatever. 02.01.2022 Currently reading The Daily Stoic (366 meditations on wisdom, perseverance, and the art of living by Ryan Holiday). Today, I read the most awesome thing: "What is the fruit of these teachings? Only the most beautiful and proper harvest of the truly educated - tranquility, fearlessness, and freedom. We should not trust the masses who say only the free can be educated, but rather the lovers of wisdom who say that only the educated are free." ... - Epictetus The author goes on to say: "Remember that imperative on the days you start to feel distracted, when watching television or having a snack seems like a better use of your time than reading or studying philosophy. Knowledge - self-knowledge in particular - is freedom." My thoughts exactly.
