My forward folds are becoming less comfortable & my side body stretches are feeling absolutely delicious & necessary. 16.01.2022 A human is what they think about all day long ~ Emerson. . I am at the tail end of a 3 day migraine. I tell you this because yet again I am reminded that I am human. .... I am not invincible. I am not yet a zen master who does not feel pain. But, I am constantly learning. Forever evolving. . I allowed a lot of things to pile up on my plate this week. And it took this migraine to stop me in my tracks & force me to lie down in a dark room with nothing but my thoughts. . I didnt realise it at the time, but I needed this rest. Ive been rushing. Ive been overthinking & juggling too many things. This time of darkness reminded me yet again that I am human. That I am doing my best. And that I need to send myself LOVE. Every. Single. Day. . Im sure Im not the only one that has pushed their self so much that they have been forced to stop. .. That sore knee that we keep running on instead of getting it checked out. .. Those aching muscles that we keep working harder without rest. .. That slight headache that we keep numbing with caffeine or pills. .. That anxiety or depression that we keep drowning out with to do lists & jobs. . While sometimes its important & useful to push ourselves, there will always be a breaking point if we dont allow ourselves time to find the root cause of our problem. . 13.01.2022 We each carry unique medicine & messages for each other. The experiences of others may provide you with more clarity or inspiration for where you are in your own life. . Last Friday night with Cacao & friendship we created a space for one another to share a little piece of ourselves. . Even though I held this little ceremony, I did not feel above or greater than anybody here. We are all students of one another. We are constantly learning, forever evolving.... . I was reminded last week on Are you okay day, that I needed to ask myself that exact question. And the answer was; No. . I have battled with anxiety for as long as I can remember. With all of the excitement & organisation of rapid changes in my life, I had forgotten to nurture my own soul. . Sometimes this happens to me. I teach & teach, only to realise that I havent been practising what Im teaching. But with the power of mindfulness I now seem to catch myself more quickly when I feel that slide towards anxiousness. I had a cry on Thursday. Okay, a melt down. . But I used my knowledge of meditation & mindful movement to sense into what was going on. And slowly but surely, I pulled myself out of my spiral. . On Friday night I was reminded of how powerful the connection of friendship & opening my heart truly is. It was incredible to let down my guard, to be open & real about the battles that we are each having within ourselves. . I truly believe that we can heal ourselves by listening intuitively to what our soul needs... Sometimes this requires guidance from other peoples experiences, other times its a solo mission. . 06.01.2022 Helloooooo monkey mind. I created this video after spending 2 days in bed with a migraine. I had lost touch with my breathe. Id let my thoughts take control. .... I was feeling fragile & I didnt feel up to being in front of the camera, but I wanted to share this experience to be real. . So this is me at my rawest. I felt a little broken, my eyes were heavy & my body was achy. . I was reminded that if we allow our minds to run wild, it results in stress. Unconscious thoughts that are interpreting the past or predicting the future consume our energy & create more stress in our mind & our bodies. . This week I had to change my working life dramatically. My body screamed for rest & I finally surrendered to it. 02.01.2022 When I was born, the doctors told my parents that it would be unlikely that I would ever walk properly. Though it took a little longer than normal kids, I did learn to walk. . When I started walking they were told that I would never be able to play, or run or jump like all the normal kids. Though many years of my childhood were spent in plasters & on crutches, I managed to enjoy life just as much as a so called normal kid. .... Here at 29 years of age I have been given yet another speed bump of not being able to use my legs properly. Walking more than a few steps hurts due to some minor pregnancy complications. . At first I was disheartened. Why me? But as I look back through old photos of myself in plasters & on crutches I recall the patience & determination of that little girl from my past. . Ages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 16, 18 & 25. Wow - I’ve spent a lot of time without the ability to use my hips, legs & feet properly. . I remember the innocence of a child just wanting to be normal, but also the wisdom. I was different, but not incapable. Each time I learnt to walk again & again, I found a new appreciation for the somewhat simple act of walking. . Often in life we focus on what we don’t have instead of what we do have. While I must let my hips & legs rest a little right now, I am so grateful that I can still take small steps to getting back to walking normally again. I am so blessed. My journey through life has been challenging but not catastrophic. I can cry poor me or I can find gratitude in knowing that this pain is here now because I am carrying my little bubba to be. .
