16.01.2022 RESTRICTIONS LIFTING From 3pm Friday 5 June, the vast majority of Tasmanias Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) managed parks and reserves will welcome the public back to enjoy recreational use, including day-use and multi-day hiking and camping, ahead of the June long weekend. The 30km from home restriction will be to be lifted on Friday to allow unrestricted travel throughout the state.... Camping in our stunning parks and reserves is a much-loved part of the Tasmanian way of life, and this news will be warmly welcomed by campers ahead of the long weekend. Its important to remember Tasmanians must continue to observe social distancing and gathering rules, and reopened parks and reserves will be monitored to ensure rules are adhered to. Some campgrounds, facilities and services will remain closed for the next two weeks in preparation to manage visitor numbers and put in place measures to meet health and safety guidelines. Additionally, visitor centres will also remain closed before reopening on 15 June, to allow for comprehensive COVID-safe plans to be implemented. So, it is important for all parks visitors to check the www.parks.tas.gov.au website for information on what facilities are available.

The decision demonstrated excellent forward thinking. With visitors arriving by the Spirit known to stay longer and disperse further, this presents a great opportunity for Tasmania to enjoy the fruits of a roadtrip led recovery.
