03.01.2022 A doctor tells us everything we need to know about the coronavirus.

01.01.2022 You might be wondering what will happen if there are more cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Queensland and how you could be affected. From what we know a...bout novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in China, most people (around 81%) only develop mild illness and recover easily. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop severe illness. About 2.3% of people who have contracted the disease in China have died, and most of those were older people or had underlying medical problems. Our Queensland population and health system is very different to China, and we have had time to prepare. We expect that when the virus reaches Australia, we will not see as many deaths or severe cases. Our hospitals are ready and prepared to respond. We have responded to health emergencies in the past, and we will do it again. The best way to look after yourself and your loved ones is by washing your hands often and properly, staying 1.5 metres away from people who cough or sneeze, and staying home if you’re sick. You should also stay up-to-date with the latest information on www.health.qld.gov.au/coronavirus

01.01.2022 Happy Halloween
