10.01.2022 Today we're celebrating Nowruz or Persian New Year! Nowruz is traditionally marked by the first day of spring or Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphe...re. To celebrate, the Library's wonderful Leila set a special Haft-sin table where music, conversation and special traditional sweets were shared. The table has seven main items that start with the letter S in Persian, each of which has its symbolic meaning: Sabzeh (green grass), the symbol of growth and rebirth Seeb (apple), the symbol of beauty and health Serkeh (vinegar), the symbol of age and patience Samanou (a sweet pudding made from wheat), the symbol of affluence Senjed (dried fruit of the Oleaster tree), the symbol of love Sekkeh (coin), the symbol of prosperity Seer (garlic), the symbol of medicine and healing The Library is also home to some beautiful Persian manuscripts, miniatures, rare books and maps. Pictured here are Layla and Manjun. This manuscript, dated AH 1135 (1723 CE), tells their forbidden love story. It's a tale reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet (). Happily, this manuscript has found a safe home in the Library's rare books collection. 07.01.2022 The National Day of Action Against Bullying will be held at BPPS tomorrow (Thursday, 18 March). We would like everyone to wear a splash of orange tomorrow to take a stand against bullying. Bullying is never O.K. Students should try to wear just a touch of orange over their school uniforms, like a scarf, socks, beanie, hat, ribbons, headband or wristband (no need to cover yourself in orange).... Even though we will acknowledge anti bullying next week, at BPPS we believe that no one should be a bully. Bullying is an ongoing situation where a person verbally or physically harms someone else. When people are bullied, they may feel: angry, scared, sad, discouraged, nervous and not safe. The S.R.C. believe in Bullying No Way.
07.01.2022 Coming soon from Compass - the ability to tick Use Credit on incursions, excursions and camps. This will be for CSEF credit and any other credits families have accumulated e.g. cancelled camps etc. The field description (below highlighted in red) will be updated in due course and we expect this functionality to be rolled out within days! Thanks to Compass for their work here!
