25.01.2022 MAKING CANDLES - STEP THREE : JARS AND WICKS While the wax mixture heats up, we select the chosen jar - whether this be the classic Monochrome jars or something a little more fancy like the Retro jars or your own customised vessel. We then choose the correct wick size whether that be 16mm or 20mm and place it into a little holder and then we just stick it to the middle of the jar ( and yes, it is a perfectionists nightmare trying to get it exactly in the middle - its b...een the cause of many frustrated sighs and resticks ) Next the jar is polished with a cleaning cloth as it awaits to be poured! 24.01.2022 GOOD NEWS STORY OF THE WEEK This weeks funny little news story happens up in Yaraka, in Western Queensland where some feathery patrons in the shape of emus, have sadly had their drink cards revoked at The Yaraka Hotel. With the local emus, being barred out of the pub with their self-titled "emu barrier" made out of rope to keep the apparently badly behaved feathered friends outside and away from the pub.... While the emu's still reign supreme as the main tourist attraction - it seems that The Yaraka Hotel is "winning the win" over the emus, though they are known to wait along the barrier and wait until someone slips up to run in and grab a bite and maybe a pint. It is little funny and light hearted stories like these that can be found bustled between often times scary or confronting headlines, but we have to appreciate them, there is good light hearted fun and stories going on in the world right now, we just have to look for it and listen a little bit harder. 21.01.2022 PART 5: WOODWICK CUTTING That's right the next part of our candle-making journey is to cut the wood-wick to the perfect size and to ensure a clean and perfect burn for every candle that leaves our warehouse, this step comes after a precise look at the candle itself making sure it stands up to our Light and Glo standard. This is with a specialised pair of scissors, and we cut into a shape that when I first learnt how to cut wicks was referred to me by Suji as a "little h...ouse" like shape. We then remove all the cut wick parts and clean off any woodwick dust off the top of the candle, ready for a proper glass polishing! See more

A sense mystery surrounds the identity of the person who has been sending bunches of flowers to Lismore businesses in a show of support during trying times. Florist Linda Heilbron said she had been sworn to secrecy about who was behind the weekly orders that began after COVID-19 restrictions eased and her shop reopened.... "They're a local minister [of religion] and they approached me and said, 'I would like to donate a bunch of flowers to a fantastic local business to just appreciate what they do'," she said. "It's a $50 bunch, and usually the donor and me get together and see who is the worthy recipient for the week. "I deliver it with a smile and I get a really big smile back ... sometimes they get a bit of a tear, and sometimes it gives me a little bit of a tear as well." 09.01.2022 THE GOOD NEWS STORY OF THE WEEK A small boutique clothing shop in Bundaberg has suddenly found it is playing an important role in keeping the rest of the country safe through the manufacturing and production of masks to help as Melbourne introduced compulsory face masks in the war on COVID-19. Custom-made clothes maker Sue Hargreaves runs the store and has been overwhelmed in the last few weeks as orders for masks keep flowing in.... "When COVID-19 began the facemasks went nuts and then nothing, until now," she said, not only that but there has also been an uprising on the amount of volunteers beginning to make reusable fabric masks in order to help out those who need it most at current. Its an inspiring story to see how innovation grows in times of crisis and how we all come together in order to help and assist each other, when we need it most

08.01.2022 MAKING CANDLES - PART FOUR: POUR, POUR, POUR So what exactly is next in our candle making process? Well with our polished and wicked jars - we transfer over our soy wax mixture over to our candle room and begin to pour our candles.... This takes ninja precision and stable hands - no room for shaky hands here, the way we pour is also extremely important in order to prevent air bubbles in the candles. This is achieved through pouring slowly and to a certain point, to prevent any imperfections and ensure unity of every candle we produce. It is then time to let the candles rest as they solidify into their best candle form under the cool temperature of the Light and Glo candle room until our next step is taken! See more

07.01.2022 GOOD NEWS STORY OF THE WEEK: Today workers with intellectual disabilities are returning to work in Queensland for the first time since COVID-19 restrictions were imposed, with more than 1,000 individuals gaining their jobs back after COVID hit. This amounts of almost %90 of those who lost their job or were stood down due to quarantine.... Site manager Robert Campbell commented on the excitement and relief of the staff to finally get back to packaging goods for Woolworths and other retailers "It means a lot; they can be back with their teammates," he said, while also making a multitude of comments of the comradery of the team. Dad is the amazing and incredible father Jeeva is, who consistently and somehow effortlessly manages to keep up with three crazy boys ( and me! ) with a smile on his face. It is his continuous effort to inspire and motivate our boys to be the best, most caring and kind versions of themselves that they can be.
