21.01.2022 At TFS, we share many values and common ideals with our servicemen and women. Today at dawn we paused to remember all those who have served our nation. Like ...many other Australians I have a personal connection to the ANZACs as my grandfather was one of the Aussie diggers who landed on ANZAC Cove in 1915, said TFS Chief Officer Chris Arnol. I always think of him at our dawn services. Lest We Forget.

21.01.2022 Branxholm Crew wish everyone a Merry Christmas

18.01.2022 Reminder | Fire Hazards Council reminds owners and occupiers of the urgent need to reduce fire hazards as the bushfire season approaches. It is recommended tha...t a 'defendable space' is created where necessary, by clearing all flammable vegetation. Owners and occupiers of property in the municipality are reminded that over the coming weeks, Abatement Notices, when considered necessary, will be issued for the appropriate clearing of fire hazards. Under the Local Government Act 1993, Council is required to issue Fire Abatement Notices that requires the removal of the hazard within a limited time period. Failure to remove the fire hazards within the specified time could lead to clearance of hazards at the property owners' expense. Council seeks the cooperation of owners and occupiers in ensuring that their properties do not constitute a threat during the coming months. For further information on reporting a potential fire hazard, please contact Wayne 'Turtle' Churchill on 03 6352 6500.

10.01.2022 Heaters and fire places need their space. Always keep anything flammable at least two metres away from your winter warmer to avoid them catching on fire. Be fire safe this winter.

10.01.2022 Winter is almost upon us. The likelihood of accidental house fires increases with people spending more time at home. Some tips to keep you and your family safe:... Install smoke alarms in every bedroom and hallway. Have a home fire escape plan that you practice with your whole family. Dust and test your smoke alarm once a month. Clean your clothes dryer filter after each use and always run it until the end of the cool down cycle. Keep everything two metres from the heater. Have your chimney and flue professionally cleaned annually. Never leave cooking unattended. Turn your electric blanket off when you get into bed. Use your wheat bag according to manufacturer’s instructions and never overheat in the microwave. Stay safe and visit www.fire.tas.gov.au for more information on how to stay fire safe.

09.01.2022 Do you know all motorists must slow to 40km/h when passing a stationary or slow moving emergency vehicle with lights flashing? When passing an emergency vehicl...e with lights flashing, all motorists must: > slow to 40km/h (in all speed zones and in both directions unless there is a dividing barrier between you and the emergency vehicle) > give way to emergency workers who are on foot in the immediate vicinity of the emergency vehicle, and > only increase speed when a safe distance from the scene. For further information see: https://www.rsac.tas.gov.au/slow-down-for-emergency-vehicles
