25.01.2022 Branyan RFB has had a truck if not 2 on the ground day and night at the Woodgate fire. We would like to thank all involved in attempting to gain the upper hand on this fire and those that followed the recommendations of QFES to evacuate the area! 13.01.2022 Yes, we have had some rain but we are currently still under a Fire Ban. In the Bundaberg Region as at 4th Nov we need 177mm of rain to return to full soil moisture, please note this is not the amount we need for the ban to be lifted. The Full Soil Moisture reading is 1 tool the Fire Service uses to determine Drought Ratings and Fire Danger Ratings. 12.01.2022 SMOKE ALERT We will be on the ground conducting a Hazard Reduction Burn Friday 26th June for Shalom College. This burn will significantly reduce leaf litter and debris built up over the years. If there was to be a Wildfire in the area in the coming fire season, these efforts will play a pivotal role in slowing a rapid moving fire and giving Fire Fighter's a slight upper hand. Did you know we can help you reduce your risk? You can contact your local Brigade to assist yo...u with a planned burn. Your local Fire Warden can provide you with a FREE permit to light pending you have measure's in place to stop the burn escaping. Smoke may affect surrounding areas during the evening, into the following morning. If you are affected, close windows and doors and keep respiratory medications close by. 08.01.2022 Due to the current and on going conditions QLD has been Declared a State of Fire Emergency. What's this mean for you? The declaration overrides all existing permits to light fire and bans fireworks and the lighting of any outdoor cooking fires. ... The declaration also prohibits welding, grinding and the use of oxy acetylene cutting or heating outdoors.
