19.01.2022 After careful consideration, the BRAT Committee has made a decision to suspend all club training sessions and events until further notice due to the developing COVID-19 pandemic and latest guidelines from Australian health authorities. The Committee will periodically review this decision as the situation unfolds and becomes less uncertain. If you have any questions or comments, please direct them via email to [email protected] Can I still organise and train with fellow m...embers? It is up to each individual to assess the risks and make their own decisions about training and socialising with others. Whilst the club does not endorse any sessions or events during this period, it does not stop any individuals from posting or communicating with other members through club channels (eg WhatsApp, FaceBook). We recognise the social aspect of belonging to a club is important. We would love to see the chat continue and post your training efforts! What does this mean for Try a Tri program? The Try a Tri program is operated by JH Racing, and the club respects its decision to either continue or suspend the remainder of the program. However, the BRAT club does not officially endorse further sessions and events under this program or any future program at this time. 15.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT: The BRAT Club is pleased to announce that JH Racing will be taking on coaching responsibilities for the club and our members. WHAT does this mean for you? BRATs will continue to be a member-run community club open everyone irrespective of their abilities or their goals. Those of you wishing to train and improve will have the benefit of learning from experienced coaches. For those of you who come along for the social aspect, never fear - strengthening our commun...ity and building ties remains our key objective. WHO are JH Racing? JH Racing is run by longstanding BRAT member and Ironman legend John Hill with the assistance of Ben Vidal Maestre. John and Ben are both registered and qualified Triathlon Australia coaches and bring enormous experience and passion for triathlon. WHY do we need a coach? We feel that the best way to introduce beginners to the triathlon community is to make sure we equip them with skills and safety knowledge from triathlon experts. For our more experienced members, having the expertise of a professional triathlon coach will ensure you get the most out of your training and enable you to achieve your racing objectives HOW will training change? All existing training sessions will continue and we've added a few new ones to the schedule too. John and Ben will be present at our training sessions to provide guidance and a more structured approach to our cycling, running and swimming sessions. WHERE to now? We want to see you at training, having a go but more importantly having a great time. We hope that this investment will result in a stronger, safer and more inclusive BRAT club. If you've got any questions you can send us an email [email protected] or alternatively speak to the committee members at training See more
14.01.2022 Thank you everyone for another great day of racing. The weather held up quite nicely. Great to see more newcomers to our races and having a go. Hope to see a large turnout for our next race (16 Feb). Great practice run for Big Husky! Results are now up on the BRAT website (Events>Results). My apologies for some timing issues, the system was a little fickle today and we missed a few reads. The BRAT points leaderboard continues track our performers over the summer season of clu...b racing. Shaun Anderson continues to dominate both the Open Men and Masters categories...BUT Danny Moore leads with a combination of strong performances and volunteer efforts. Lucy Terrell (aka La Prez) continues to lead the Open Women category without even needing to race. She's maxed out on volunteer efforts though and will need to race to pick up further points. Thank you again to the volunteers who help ensure we can operate these races, including those who help setup and packup. It really is a team effort! Finally, I feel great satisfaction in completing a long overdue shed clean out after the race. A big thank you to those who were able to stay back to help out. We've uncovered some more retro kit and future giveaways...stay posted!
