25.01.2022 Grateful for thoughtful gifts from family. Thank you My son got discharged only to have to come back to hospital the next day. More testing being done. I will be using the colouring in book for a mindfulness exercise while I am here.

25.01.2022 We all wear many hats. Here is one of mine. One of my teenagers is an amazing Nintendo Smash Bros Ultimate player, and plays in tournaments, using the gamer tag Spammage. As I got to know young people in the Smash Community, I became known as SpamMum. The Smash Community is an awesome bunch of young people, and I have become so fond of them all. I like to look out for them all as much as I can, in a mothering way. ... One of the members of the Smash Community was having a fundraiser for the Black Lives Matter Movement to give to charities. I commissioned @jpartie to create me a logo and gave her full artistic licence. Here is the design she came up with and the explanation behind it: "I based it off the superhero design, of course! Because you're such a superhero to all the people in the smash community!" I love being SpamMum and am honoured to be a part of the Smash Community.

21.01.2022 Stop and breathe, Brave One xo

21.01.2022 This beautiful artwork by artist and creative art therapist Jo Chappell Art . Jo is an exceptional artist and Counsellor that uses art in her sessions. The original artwork on the left (goldfish) will soon be hanging in my home. Prints are available, if you love it as much as I do. Get in contact with Jo.... I love supporting local artists.

21.01.2022 As an ally for the Black Lives Matter movement, I am making an ongoing commitment to having the hard conversations about racism in Australia. Will you join me? The work doesn't stop just because its no longer trending! It is rooted deeply in the Australian psyche amongst white people that we don't have a racism problem here. That narrative is false! We need to help change that. ... I will continue to listen and support the voices of First Nation men and women who live with racism on a daily basis in Australia. I have experienced so much learning and unlearning over the past few years and in particular, the past few weeks, and this will be an ongoing process for me. Thank you to @art.tearapy for this amazing artwork I received in the mail today.

21.01.2022 Our kittens, Saffron and Emily are now 4 months old, and we couldn't imagine life without them!

21.01.2022 " The colour of my skin should not determine how you will treat me!! We are all part of one race. The human race. #blacklivesmatter #proudindigenousaustralian" - words by Mikalah Watego, my niece whom I couldn't be prouder of.... #blaklivesmatter #blacklivesmatteraustralia

19.01.2022 To celebrate Pride month and to help Trans kids & their families, I made a donation to this amazing organisation! Transcend do such great work. Brave One, if you are able to do so, please consider donating too.,

17.01.2022 Absolutely LOVING Laura Bowen 's Introduction to Oracle Cards course. I am especially loving the weekly Zoom calls with like-minded people. It has inspired me to create my own Oracle Card Deck. Lucky for me, Laura will be running a course for that! Stay tuned.

16.01.2022 Um, Saffron! I am trying to clean up my Art room. Do you mind? Lucky you're cute. Fun fact: I have lost count of the amount of pencils and paintbrushes my cats & dogs have chewed on. And before we got the animals, my kids chewed on them, back when they were toddlers! Lucky they're cute too.... Do your animals or toddlers like "helping you", when you are trying to create too?

15.01.2022 Look what arrived in the mail today. I'm an Oracle Card Reader! Oracle Cards are a great tool to tap into your intuition. Looking forward to the Make Your Own Oracle Card Deck starting in a few weeks with Laura Bowen.

12.01.2022 Reposted from @oliviamollyrogers More beautiful words of wisdom from Allira: Wellness practitioners and Business owners in this space, now is your time to join me in changing the narrative and making your businesses and yourselves more Culturally aware and Safe - @Allira.potter Ways you can make your spaces more culturally appropriate and safe; If youre a new business have a Welcome to country by a traditional land owner of the land on which you have your practice onto. Y...oure working alongside traditional owners and making your partnership stronger within the community. Before All class or major events take a moment yourself to Acknowledge the traditional owners of the land. Dont use Aboriginal culture as a way to boost your business, dont be that person! Buy Art work from an Aboriginal artist to not only support artists but have your space culturally safe. If youre white male follow protocol when using the yidaki (aka didgeridoo) most aboriginal people find this offensive when using this during your yoga or meditation practices. Have the conversation or take a moment to reflect on how you can incorporate community within your space. ENGAGE in BLAK representation within your space! Work alongside Aboriginal wellness practitioners to create meaningful events that emphasis culture. 11.01.2022 On Wear it Purple Day, I want to say to all the rainbow youth: You are valued. You are loved. #wearitpurple #wearitpurpleday #wearitpurpleday202

11.01.2022 Always was. Always will be. My hospital bathroom, no make up selfie! ... Good thing my Clothing The Gap jumper arrived, because it is cold in this air-conditioned hospital room! Not complaining though. I am grateful that my son is getting the best of care here, and our Medicare system means that I do not have to worry about a big bill when he is discharged. Aboriginal lives still matter. Racism still exists in Australia. Continue to highlight this, and support our indigenous brothers and sisters. I respectfully acknowledge the Yugambeh People, the traditional owners of the land on which we meet, and pay my respect to their elders past and present, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples here today. #blaklivesmatter #alwayswasalwayswillbe

10.01.2022 I'm looking back through my old artworks today, in the hope to be inspired to create more art. (Yep. Sometimes Art Therapist forget to make time for their own personal art!) Maybe some of these will appear in my Oracle Card Deck? Can't wait to start the Make your own Oracle Card Deck course with Laura Bowen !

08.01.2022 "The response to this weird mix of strong emotions is complex. Some people have gotten right down to business, made plans, executed them, and posted them on social media for everyone to see. Others feel paralyzed by fear or anxiety, finding themselves unable to do much of anything other than check and recheck the news. Other responses fall everywhere in between. In many ways, technology is our savior. Its allowing us to stay connected and informed. For many, its allowing work to continue, albeit from home. While we are more than fortunate that this is the case, its also important to continue to be aware of the fact that, at the end of the day, we live in bodies that are impacted by huge changes in the way that we move about (or dont) in the world."

05.01.2022 "You're so right, I'm not calm; I am free, I am living, I am color. I am essence, I am pleasure, I am rebellion. I am instinct, I am skin, I am revolution. I can be anything but calm." - Frida Kahlo Happy birthday Frida

05.01.2022 Knowing your limitations is important, Brave One. After 7 nights in total in the Children's ward (from 2 admissions), with my youngest son, very little sleep and a lot of stress, I will be resting as much as a mum of 3 can for the remainder of the week! I am so grateful to Sunshine Bridge Education families for dropping meals off and homemade baked goods. We are really touched, and it has been so helpful. We are so grateful.

05.01.2022 What are you reading right now, Brave One? Are you like me? I usually have multiple books I am reading at once!... I have just finished The Transgender Teen (so informative!) and have almost finished reading Redefining Realness by Janet Mock (She is an amazing author!) I have made a start on White Fragility. I am looking forward to starting the Australian titles called Dark Emu and Talking to my Country. I never buy magazines. But I spotted this WHO Magazine at the service station and had to buy it. And there is a novel thrown in there for escapism. I call myself a lifelong learner and hope to never stop learning! I think it is extremely important to stay informed and up to date with social issues, especially as an Art Therapist.

04.01.2022 Guess what is in my Our Tribe PNG bilum bag? New addition to our home, 7 week old female ragdoll. 520grams. This makes 2 dogs & 3 kittens in our home. So, I am claiming Crazy cat lady title.... I grew up with multiple animals in my home and I am so thankful for that. And my own 3 teenagers are now loving the experience. No name yet. Suggestions welcome!

03.01.2022 Words & original post from IG @chalkandleaves : "My thoughts on privilege. If you identify as BIPOC and have something to add hereplease do so. I could never fit everything I want to say, but I will spend the rest of my days allowing myself to be kindly humbled by BIPOC when it comes to these issues. I am constantly learning and growing, just like we all should. @ my white folks, the best way to do that is by listening and HEARING stories from BIPOC. Most of all, wholeheartedly believing and standing behind these stories. I know my voice is powerful and I intend to use it wherever I can."

03.01.2022 When I was dreaming of a getaway, this is NOT what I had in mind!! I took my youngest son to the Children's emergency department on Monday night on the advice of a GP. Blood tests, urine tests, x-ray and lumbar puncture later, he was admitted early Monday morning to the Children's ward. He has since had negative results for COVID-19 (we were isolated for 12 hours) and various other things. ... No official diagnosis yet, but I am grateful for the great care the doctors and nurses have given him. @ Gold Coast University Hospital - GCUH

02.01.2022 I am a LGBTQIA+ ally. My new badges have arrived from Minus18. Happy Pride month.

01.01.2022 It's Wear it Purple Day today! Wear it Purple strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people. Wear it Purple was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of real teenagers, real heartache and their very real responses. In 2010, several rainbow young people took their own lives following bullying and harassment resulting from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity.... One member of this group was 18 year old Tyler Clementi who took his own life after being publicly outed as gay by his roommate, prompting a frenzy as reports poured in of various young people sadly in the same situation. In response, Ellen DeGeneres made a statement, that this needs to be a wake-up call to everyone: teenage bullying and teasing is an epidemicand the death rate is climbing. 01.01.2022 "We realise at times like this that what we normally think of as happiness is a very ephemeral thing and not actually worth pursuing, if we're thinking of it as a sort of pleasure-induced emotional state," he tells Life Matters. "Happiness has never been a suitable goal for life. It's a happy accident that that occurs sometimes, but it has almost nothing to do with life's deepest satisfactions. "It's often loss, it's often crisis, it's often disappointment that has much more to teach us than the bright shiny moments in life."

01.01.2022 Thank you for using your voice Courageous Art . I am listening. I am learning. I am unlearning.
