25.01.2022 The Melbourne Glaciers announced their 2019/20 AJIHL team and we've three big reasons to get excited about it! Braves players Jacob Haley (C), Evan Connard (A), Josh Buzza (G) and their team mates begin their campaign for the Nathan Walker Trophy this weekend.

23.01.2022 Grading Session #3 Postponed :( Today IHV suspended all Ice Hockey related activities sanctioned by IHV. Please follow this link for the official statement https://www.facebook.com/IceHockeyVictoria/posts/2632745673501791... In simple terms, any ice time booked through IHV for club purposes is no longer going ahead. Why is this a problem? This means any ice hockey related activities we undertake will not be covered by insurance. And, as we all know, insurance is never an issue until we need it.... I apologise for the late notice but we are trying to avoid any unnecessary concerns or cancellations unless we otherwise have to. As always, I am available for ALL the questions. Be well, Daniel Fuentes President Braves IHC

22.01.2022 This past weekend our junior affiliate - The Bison - hit the ice for the first time in their brand new uniforms! Best looking squad in the land? You bet! A massive thank you to the crew at Versus Merch for the logo design and production. And kudos to Coach Steve Belic for suiting up behind the bench so early on a Sunday. Cheers to Lime Imagery for the awesome action shots!

22.01.2022 IT'S FINALS DAY! Get down to Olympic Ice Skating Centre at 7pm to cheer on the Comanches as they take on the Monarchs Angels for a spot in the Grand Final.

21.01.2022 It makes us incredibly proud when our members actively seek to help and rally around their community. Navajos player Connor Sidari-Alley approached the committee wanting to support the bushfire relief efforts. He proposed that for each goal scored by his team over the next two rounds, each player could donate $1 towards Wildlife Victoria, to support animals injured during the fires devastating our state. His idea has been so well received by all at the club, that it has spr...ead throughout our summer teams, with each team adding their own distinct Braves flavour to the pledge. While the Navajos did not overly trouble the scorers last week, they and the other Braves teams still have games ahead. We wish them all luck in their fundraising efforts.

19.01.2022 Braves! As we had the IHV Committee meeting last night you have the honour of hearing from me tonight. Firstly, and sadly, we will have to postpone our Summer Presentation Night. I doubt anyone is surprised by this however we deliberately held off as long as possible because, with things changing every day, we didn't want to just be cancelling or postponing things unless we absolutely had to. We fully expect to hold a presentation night once the season is officially conclude...d to celebrate the success of our magnificent and (almost) all-conquering Summer program! This leads me to my next point. At the IHV meeting last night the status of Summer League 2019-2020 was still inconclusive and will be reviewed at the June IHV meeting when more COVID-19 information is available. While I appreciate this is frustrating news I urge you to ask Bianca for the details of the battle I singlehandedly fought in your honour and glory. You're welcome. No, no, hold the applause. Further with the bad news is there no update on Winter Season 2020 at this point. So all that hill running I’m doing is just a waste. Lastly, as posted by IHV last week on their Facebook page, there is talk of refunds for those Winter players who have paid their Winter registration for Season 2020. The details are still being hammered out but we have been suitably impressed with IHVs effort in making this work for everyone so please bear with us and them. More information will follow next week regarding this and Braves Winter Season 2020 deposits. In the meantime, if you have any questions, as always shoot them through and we'll answer them ASAP. I hope everyone is holding up and using this time to do those things they've been avoiding for so long. I'm finally breaking out 'Arkham City: Origins' and my 'Quarantine Beard' is now somewhere between Blackbeard the Pirate and Brent Burns. Also, all this quarantine stuff means we'll have a rash of new players born in the next 12 months so I'm thinking a junior program would be handy.... ;-) As always, if there is anything anyone needs please do not hesitate to reach out. Take care of yourselves and each other. The Braves network is pretty vast so between all of us we can cover most things anyone might need; work opportunities, stress management, memes, off-ice training (there, I did it again!), shopping runs, toilet paper, etc. None of us are in this alone so keep an eye on each other. Be well, Daniel Fuentes President Braves IHC

19.01.2022 March means finals! Some divisions are winding up their round robin games, while others are in the thick of the hunt for a trophy. Best of luck to all of our teams!! DIVISION 2 Navajos are in the final games of the round robin, with three teams on equal points in first.... Next Game: Wed 4/3 @ 8.45pm O'Brien Icehouse vs Jets Blackbirds (Round Robin) DIVISION 5 Kiowa found the back of the net twice to record a 2-0 semi-final win against Ice Wolves team Red Wolves. The win propels them into the preliminary final. Next Game: Sun 15/3 @ 12.15pm O'Brien Icehouse vs Sharks Bullsharks (Preliminary Final) DIVISION 6 Mohicans gained an early lead but unfortunately fell to a late onslaught by the Arctic Wolves, with the final score 3-4. Having finished the round robin in first place, the team has another chance to make the grand final. Next Game: Sun 15/3 @ 4.15pm iceHQ vs Jets Hellcats (Preliminary Final) DIVISION 7 Having just completed their round robin games, Comanches have finished in top spot! This places them in a great position leading into finals. Next Game: Tue 10/3 @ 7.00pm Olympic Ice Skating Centre vs Monarchs Angels (Semi Final)

16.01.2022 It's a big day for the Braves, with 3 teams seeking entry to the Grand Final. Join us at O'Brien Icehouse and iceHQ today.

16.01.2022 THREE TEAMS MAKE THE GRAND FINAL! Congratulations to the Navajos (3-2 win), Mohicans (3-0 win), and Comanches (2-0 win) for making it all the way to the final show down for the Ice Hockey Victoria Summer Finals. Unfortunately we were unable to make it 4 from 4 - Kiowa showed tremendous fight after going on the back foot early in their preliminary final but were ultimately defeated 5-1. ... Don your black and gold gear at O'Brien Icehouse next weekend to support our teams: Sat 21/3 @ 2.45pm Navajos vs Demons 2 Sun 22/3 @ 12.15pm Mohicans vs Arctic Wolves Sun 22/3 @ 1.45pm Comanches vs Monarchs Angels GO BRAVES!

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Braves Senior B player Hollie Bolton for being selected to the Melbourne Ice Women's Team (MIW)! The AWIHL season is less than 3 weeks away, and we can't wait to see you out there!

14.01.2022 Two big games this Sunday at O'Brien Icehouse and iceHQ - see you there!

14.01.2022 Braves, Romans, Countrybumpkins, I hope everyone had as safe and fun an Easter as possible under the current circumstances. However, if you have met my family you will understand why I was pretty happy staying home. As posted last week, we have an update for you on your Winter Season Registration Fees and Braves Season Deposits. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter; we appreciate it is something extra for you all to think about that you really do not... need on your plates right now. Firstly, the Braves Winter Season deposit will be refunded in full. This is the one thing we, as a club, have control over and we reckon it is only fair; if you are not playing, you should not be paying. Affected members will be contacted by the Club to discuss refunding arrangements. Secondly, the IHV Executive have determined that a refund of all IHV memberships and IHV draft session fees is in the best interest of the members. These fees will be refunded directly to the credit card from which they were purchased UNLESS an outstanding debt to IHV exists. Thirdly and unfortunately, in regards to the email sent by IHA to those players who had paid their Winter Season registration that will not be refunded at this point I am sorry. That is an incredibly.underwhelming response considering the conditions we are currently living under. We will keep chasing this up and sharing information as we receive it. Lastly, I have taken the Gwyneth Paltrow route and agreed if I do not come out of quarantine with at least a new skill or language I lack discipline, not time. So far I have learnt; - Furiously pressing ‘X’ + ‘RT’ and swearing at the screen does not help Ezio Auditore in any way and maybe I just stink at 'Assassin's Creed'. - ‘Fully Sick’ is not the answer my Mum wants to hear when she is asking how I am. - I really do like my dog more than I like most of you. Yes, you should take that personally. So, all in all, quarantine has been an enlightening time for Danny Fuentes. Be good to yourselves and each other and, as always, we are all available at any time for all the questions, ideas, suggestions, memes and banter. Daniel Fuentes President Braves IHC

12.01.2022 Good Afternoon Braves, If you have not already seen the latest post by Ice Hockey Victoria in relation to Covid-19 please see the attached document and take some time to read it. When considering the current global and domestic condition, none of us can really say they are surprised by this news. The upside is the sooner these measures are enacted, the sooner we can come out the other side. ... I appreciate how frustrating and potentially confusing this situation is for everyone and can only try to imagine what everyone’s personal every day is looking like. I appreciate the day-to-day nature of news and information is only adding to all these feelings. As such, I am aware hockey and the Braves are not at the forefront of everyone’s minds and this is ok. But with Summer season coming to Grand Final weekend and Winter season (usually) around the corner I want to alleviate any possible concerns. Going forward, and as we have done, we will continue sharing information on any updated government and IHV guidelines to keep all of you safe and healthy. As we have done, we will continue to be available for any questions and conversations no matter how silly they may seem as you, the players and members, are our priority. And, as we have done, when all this is over, we will go back to doing what we do best. In the meantime, stay safe, take care of yourselves and each other, and if there is anything anyone in our Braves family needs, do not hesitate to reach out. Be well, Daniel Fuentes President Braves IHC

12.01.2022 On Thursday 31st October, the Braves held their Annual General Meeting. The following individuals were voted onto the committee for 2020: Daniel Fuentes : President (incumbent) Jesseca Kirwan : Vice President Bianca Cassar : Secretary... Kieran Gooley : Treasurer (incumbent) Justin Powell : Ordinary Member Justin Kuyken : Ordinary Member Gary Christieson : Ordinary Member This year sees Jesseca Kirwan stepping into the role of Vice President after four years as an ordinary member, Bianca Cassar returned as Secretary, and Justin Powell returned as Ordinary Member. In addition we have some new faces in Justin Kuyken, who brings experience in IT, strength and conditioning, and working with IHV, and Gary Christieson, who is an accountant with experience in IT and has held various committee roles previously. Lastly, we would like to thank outgoing committee member Lindsay Nash. Whilst only on the committee for one term, his assistance has been instrumental for a number of years in a wide range of support roles at the club.

10.01.2022 Congratulations to all the deserving winners of the Braves winter season awards! And a special thank you to Alex Milton and Wez Holmes for their outstanding contributions this season. http://bravesicehockey.org.au/2019/10/winter-2019-awards/

07.01.2022 That's four from four - all our teams make finals! After securing a 4-3 win last night, the Navajos finish in 2nd and play off for a grand final berth TODAY. Get down to O'Brien Icehouse at 4.15 to support them!

07.01.2022 A huge to the 3 Victorians (Jed Lake, Dylan Brooks, Tobie Gilchrist) that have made the 2020 Ice Crocs squad that will be travelling to Quebec for the International Peewee Tournament! A massive achievement for these young players and it's great to see the Big V so well represented!

06.01.2022 Last Saturday saw our Comanches team score three unanswered goals to secure a 3-1 win against the Thresher Sharks in Division 7. Thanks to Paul Crossley for getting some great snaps of the game!

03.01.2022 Thank you Paul Crossley for shooting our Navajos team as they recorded a 3-2 win over the Jets in Division 2.

01.01.2022 Braves! This is just a quick post to fill your feed with spam (direct quote) and check-in on everyone. While it has been a hectic week, ‘unprecedented’ even (like we haven’t heard that word enough.), I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and their loved ones. Personally, I’m using this time to catch up on wrestle time with Freyja (yes, I’m losing) and finally starting that pile of Lego I’ve been avoiding (there is so much to do it is literally a chore).... If there’s anything any of us can do to help, please reach out. Check in on your teammates, your family and your friends, and do what you can to keep on top of your headspace. I mean, we could all take this opportunity to catch up on our off-ice training, maybe? (He said as he ducked for cover). I might be getting my ass kicked 4 times a day (thank you, Freyja) and have blisters on my fingers from building Joker Mansions but I’m not wearing a tinfoil hat..yet.So do what you need to do to take care of your daily sanity. We have a meeting with IHV coming up in the next week and if you have any questions about anything (except Summer finals, Winter start dates and/or registrations as we will be raising those) please shoot them through. That also applies to memes. In short, and to quote our favourite time travellers, Be excellent to each other Be well, Daniel Fuentes President Braves IHC
