20.01.2022 For our traditional Fathers Day evening, this year we hosted a sports night for fathers, and their children. The night was busy with sport challenges , some special gift making and feasting. We had a great attendance and thank all the Fathers, Grandfathers and children for coming to our preschool and making this an occasion to remember.

20.01.2022 At Brayside we value play based learning. Loose parts play is a type of play that supports invention, divergent thinking, problem solving and offers a sense of wonder to children. They are materials that can be moved, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up, and taken apart and put back together in multiple ways.

17.01.2022 Recently we invited the Living Safely with Dogs program to our preschool to help the children learn about responsible pet ownership and living safely with dogs. The program educated the children about how to behave and respond to dogs as well as responsibility and social and nurturing skills. We value this program as another means of children learning about their own safety and have had very good feedback from parents about the effectiveness of this program as well.

17.01.2022 At Brayside Community Preschool all aspects of Children’s Health are addressed in our preschool program. On 29/08/2016 we had a very special visit from the tooth fairy to teach us about how important it is to look after our teeth. We learned that in order to have healthy teeth we need to know the difference between a sometimes food and a food that we need to eat everyday. The children were also taught the three different motions needed to brush their teeth; circling, scrubbing and flicks. Dental hygiene will continue to be reinforced through our regular daily program. Thankyou to Susie and Ebony from Fresh Dental Care for providing this information for our service.

15.01.2022 Help keep our Early Childhood Education and Care community safe. At this time, NSW Health is strongly encouraging the community to keep their children at home t...o reduce the risk of infection and transmission of COVID-19 in services across NSW, unless they need to be at an Early Childhood Education and Care service. 13.01.2022 We recognise the importance of children belonging to groups and communities and having an understanding of and responsibilities necessary for community participation. We thank our local friendly ambulance service who visited our preschool and gave the children an opportunity to learn more about this community service. The children were so excited to board the ambulance and view all its equipment. This experience was a great addition to our visit from the Fire Service earlier in the year for building on the childrens knowledge of their community.

12.01.2022 Recently we had Siandra Webb from Bi-cultural support come into the preschool for four visits. We value our children learning about the culture of the traditional landowners on which our preschool stands and the role of local Gumbaynggirr people in the life of this region. Throughout this bicultural program the children learned some Gumbaynggirr language through stories and songs and created artworks expressing ideas from Gumbaynggirr culture.

09.01.2022 WoW! What an amazing two weeks. The Gaagal and the Bindarray children have loved watching these beautiful baby chicks hatch from their eggs.
