17.01.2022 What a great night we had at Dows Creek Community Hall.! Thank you to all the Club members and their family who came along for some slip sliding fun and BBQ dinner. A huge well deserved CONGRATS to Club Secretary Roxanne who was awarded Club person of the year! Lyn Mauchline, the quiet achiever took out Trail Person of the year and son Michael, took out the Junior Trail person of the year. A well deserved double whammy for the Mauchline family. Brothers, Angus and J...ake Crowley are a joy to have on rides are very helpful around camp shared the Encouragement Trophy. Santa got word of our Christmas party and made a surprise visit to some excited kids! Thank you Santa and Santa's helper! This is the first year we have had water slide at our breakup, and what a hoot, especially the adult relay race..... some competitiveness certainly shone through! Hope you all enjoyed it and a huge Breakaway thank you must go to Club member Juanita for allowing us to hook up to her bore water for the slide... Thank you so much to all who volunteered to help out over the weekend, we really do appreciated it. What a great Club we have! Next meeting Dec 7th for our 2021 ride planning.... stay tuned....

Phoebe's daughter, Amelia and Missy were close friends so this means the world to both families, so we couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome. 05.01.2022 Absolutely perfect day for 13 riders and their horses who were at times tested by the deceiving track in and around Grasstree Beach today. Ahhh the magic of the north.... Thanks to Scott TB, Lyn Coordinator, Eric the Steward and Annaliese our First Aider. What a great job you all did. Welcome also new member Sharon Harth who travels back to Middlemount tonight for work on Monday. Just a 3 hour nip on the highway west. Hope you enjoyed your day.. Thanks also to Robyn McGregor for coming down this morning to take some photos. Look forward to seeing them Robyn.

03.01.2022 The Doyle-Pearn Medal is a tribute medal awarded annually as a symbol of esteem to one whose attainments symbolise achievement in the face of adversity; or to t...hose who make possible such achievement in the context of injury, illness, or disability. It gives QCHS staff great pleasure to honour Missy Clarkson by posthumously awarding her with a 2020 Doyle-Pearn Medal. Missy’s mother Anj was present today at QCHS to receive the award. For several years, Missy and her family have advocated tirelessly for those diagnosed with cancer. They have also campaigned to encourage more people to give blood donations. In a show of support, some of the medical team known to Missy and her family were also able to be present to see Anj accept the award. See more

03.01.2022 Breakaway Missy’s Donors had a wonderful morning giving plasma on Saturday. The staff at the Blood Bank welcomed us with a sign, and pics of lambies at the front door, they put horse racing on the TV’s and played country music all morning! How fantastic! We even signed up a two new donors to the team! Welcome Graham & Tim Awesome job Linda Mittelstadt & everyone who went along to donate and support

02.01.2022 EQUITANA MELBOURNE TO BE POSTPONED Now that Melbourne has entered a new phase of Stage Three Restrictions due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, our hopes of a suffic...ient recovery by November 2020 have been scuttled. It is with a very heavy heart that the EQUITANA Melbourne Organising Team have decided to postpone EQUITANA Melbourne to 2021. The final straw for us though was the safety of our EQUITANA Community including our exhibitors, competitors, educators, volunteers and of course loyal attendees who travel to Melbourne to enjoy everything the city has to offer as well as a world class EQUITANA experience. With the second wave that has hit Melbourne, resulting in the Metropolitan area going back into lockdown until at least 6 weeks from now, this means that it is impossible to proceed with confidence, that we can conduct a safe and successful event in November. The new dates we have been able to secure for the Melbourne Showgrounds are Thursday 8th July to Sunday 11th July 2021. The fact is, the decision to postpone has been made for us, such is the compelling evidence of the fallout of this crises. With restrictions in place and hospitality closed at the moment we just cannot expect people to commit to coming to Melbourne while these measures are in place. Your safety, health and welfare as well as our own team (including our superb volunteers) must be our number one priority. As a small business ourselves, we understand the economic and personal effect this horrible Coronavirus is having on the equine and broader community. Our heart goes out to everyone that on top of fires and drought, have now had to endure this third blow. But it is not the time to risk peoples welfare by trying to proceed, as painful as this decision is for us. We will focus on a strong recovery and delivering you all a viable and safe EQUITANA Melbourne next July. In the meantime, our hearts are with the Australian Equine Community and we hope you are all safe and well. We are in this with you and wish you all the best for the months ahead and look forward to celebrating good health, good times and great people at EQUITANA Melbourne from Thursday 8th July to Sunday 11th July 2021.
