21.01.2022 It's really important that I get a firm idea of how much I will really be able to continue bringing the voices of your community to you via your phone or laptop, so if you are planning to #SupportLocal, don't forget how important it is to continue receiving a healthy array of media - especially seeing as I create almost exclusively "good news", even if it's because of the bad news. The Breakaway is not about "being first" to break some clickbait. The Breakaway is about insp...iring thoughtful conversation, it's about working together on our mental health and it's about fostering community connections. That was true before the #covid19 crisis, and it continues to be true. Don't know what I mean? Listen to the past episodes, for free. My favourite is "A School on a Tractor". It makes me smile. Your kind support can start at only $5 a month. You can literally HEAR the voices of people who live close to you, talking (a very safe distance away) about things that are relevant, from an evidence-based approach and without the sort of oppositional chatter that has become so unhealthy for our minds. Don't underestimate how powerful it is on a psychological level to actually HEAR one another at this time, and in the months to come. Your local creatives are also your local small business community. We have a Patreon set up here and to find out more just click through! Thank you in advance for taking a squiz. R
21.01.2022 Everyone's a bit overloaded this week to take part and there are multiple interviewees missing the cutoff time, so we will take a break this week while everyone gets their ducks in a row. That means other people now have another 6 days to send me your perspectives on the challenges of re-organising your life around #covid19. Send a voice memo via Messenger by Wednesday 5pm for inclusion in the conversation! Seeking a mental health (and/or organisational psychology) expert to... speak on the best ways we can be looking after our mental health moving forward. For listeners looking forward to this episode - I'm sorry! Multiple people are keen to participate but haven't got back to me. It pretty much prevents me from doing the episode til I hear back from them, and right now, there IS no other topic! Lots of things going on for lots of people. That's ok. R
19.01.2022 The Breakaway will be back soon.
12.01.2022 We have our first patron! Thanks so much, Melissa! <3
05.01.2022 The Breakaway is still... uh.. breaking away! But with pressure really starting to be felt in all directions due to #covid19, episodes will now be made if/when they CAN be made, more on a "when I can manage it" basis. We are also still waiting for news on funding for this project, which was always focused on community-building and the sharing of stories, well before we were hit by a pandemic. It's still important to hear one another's voices; perhaps now more than ever. So -... until the world is a little more conducive to making a weekly podcast, the Breakaway will happen on a sporadic basis, which is all the more reason to stay subscribed via Google Play, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or of course our lovely host, LibSyn (found below). Thanks to all guests so far. Stay tuned and SUBSCRIBE to be the first to hear our next episode, which is a look into a #Hawkesbury family's journey to off-grid life. Cheers to friends already liking this page and listening along as new episodes come out - we really appreciate it! Share away to help spread the word, if you're feeling helpful! Thanks.
