21.01.2022 .: Chthonic Gods :. Today is the first of three squares between Mars/Pluto. The Jupiter ones began last week with the Bierut explosion; What will come of this o...ne? This is the true opening of the "Lion's Gate," and it belongs to Durga's lion, not some flimsy astro-meme. From the back of her lion, Durga assists us in working with Mars and Pluto, the chthonic gods: Gods of the Underworld. Whether you believe in good and evil, you likely relate to the idea of the shadow. Jung gifted us this more modernized articulation of 'evil' and it's in all of us. To our ancestors, it was the domain of the gods of the underneath. Unsavory, yes, yet absolutely essential along our path to wholeness. Jung was transfixed with the shadow. He once blew these words through a smoke ring over his pipe, "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious." If there were a key to the door of true perception, this is it. Spiritual bypassing, the materialism that comes with it, the retreats, the weekend ceremonies, new moon circles, crystals, sacred geometry, sage bundles, mantra, dare I say astrology won't completely do it-they will help, but until we fall through the floor of ego and into the pitch-black horror show of the underneath, we will remain fragmented and continue projecting our shadows onto the world. Mars and Pluto help with this. They are the Lords of Scorpio. A sign with enough mascots to open a small, slightly macabre zoo. The scorpion reminds us that poison can be medicine; the snake hints at time and regeneration; the phoenix bursts from the smoldering embers of the alchemical work we've been up to, refreshed; and the eagle gives us her eyes for seeing. When the Lords of this watery domain square off, we are confronted with all of the above. During the world's last horrific pandemic in 1918 (Spanish Flu), Carl Jung was already deep into writing what would be called THE RED BOOK. Between 1915 and 1930 Jung embarked on a journey not many have been on. A true experiment with Self. An encounter with all the strata of Psyche-including the gnashing teeth of the Shadow. Born with Pluto loosely conjunct his Taurus Moon, it's clear he was obsessed with the polarity in Scorpio, up in his 10th house. Thanks to this obsession, we have the maps to the underworld. Thanks to his bravery and noetic archeology, we have the language to articulate what is happening to us. Thanks to his heroic journey, we too might get inspired to do something similar in this particular lockdown. The shadow is erupting. Not just in the mundane world, but in our little worlds as well. The challenge: To step into it, not run away from it. The result? True integration. The moment when we begin to see homo sapian begin to crawl into its pupation, trusting the wings of homo illuminatus will emerge when the Work is done, is the same moment when we have truly begun. 15.01.2022 S T A R C A S T for week beginning August 12, 2020 Are You Up For It? Mars in Aries Squares Pluto in Capricorn!... Dear Friends & Loyal Readers, When the Soul is moving into a significant evolutionary turn, life doesn't typically feel to be smooth sailing, and it's not supposed to. We tend to feel pushed into an energy of emotional discomfort that makes us aware that we have reached a growth point in our evolution. Mars in Aries is squaring Pluto in Capricorn this week, and in many ways this can be an energy that brings you to your own perceived limits. However, there will be nothing more empowering than clearing a hurdle that has prevented your Soul from experiencing the kind of movement that you desire. You may have to confront some fears or deal with impending limitations, but whatever speed bumps are surfacing, your Soul is calling it in for your own benefit. Courage will be required. A client of mine recently went on what was supposed to be an extended road trip with a potential partner. She dreamed of being swept away from the uncertainty of the times and riding into the sunset with someone she loved. But the adventure was not at all what she expected. "Upon meeting up with this man, he offered me what seemed to be the world on a silver platter, sweeping me up off my feet. He took care of everything, financially, physically, mentally. I just had to sit back and enjoy the ride. But I quickly realized that this escape came at a price. She adds,."The fairy tale I was dreaming about was only allowed to exist if I let go of everything that made me the independent and fearless woman I had become today. In order to escape into a world where she was taken care of without a worry, she had to become small. Her role was to sit quiet and look pretty. "It was subtle, the shit of seeing kindness become control, his desire became possession, his fairy tale became my nightmare." She became acutely aware of his narcissistic nature and his royal drain on her energy. In the past, she may have pacified him and further subjected herself to this behavior, but within a few days, she became firm and told him, "I'm done. Take me home right now!" And as they drove back to her house in silence for hours, she chose to leave all of those fairy tales behind, she didn't need saving after all. Her Soul attracted this as a test, a test she pulled off with flying colors. We all have a key turn to make, each in our own way.
