25.01.2022 'I’m willing to place an inordinately large bet that you have a close companion in life. A companion to which you turn for comfort, sometimes answers, a little guidance. A companion to share your life’s milestones, to capture the revelry of fleeting moments, perhaps remind you of them after the flow of time has trickled on. Your companion is there to encourage you in the kitchen, accompany you to your favourite café, or motivate you in the gym. At work, in the car, when you wake, before you slip into sumptuous slumber, perhaps even in the bathroom Your companion is there. This sidekick isn’t your spouse, your pet, or even your friend it’s your smartphone.' Time to combat your burgeoning screen time? In the current issue of Breathe, our editorial coordinator Erin shares her experience of ditching the digital realm for real life.

25.01.2022 You don't need to spend a lot of money on lavish gifts to make somebody feel loved and cared for. In the new issue of Breathe, Michelle Mackintosh, author of Sustainable Gifting shares how to create thoughtful keepsakes for your loved ones. We love these quick and easy personalised bonbons What you’ll need: Toilet paper tubes Wax paper or recycled wrapping paper... Washi tape Scissors Bonbon filling 1. Lay your tube in the middle of a square piece of wax or recycled paper. Make sure you have enough room at each end to twist the bonbon. 2. Roll the wax paper tightly around the tube and seal nicely with washi tape. Making sure the tube is centred, twist one end of the wax paper just once. Add your bonbon filling (a small letter, sweets or toys), then twist the second end neatly just once. 3. I always wrap washi tape around the whole bonbon, near each end, then place a circular sticker in the centre. I add the person’s name to the sticker or a personal note or quote.

16.01.2022 Mindful self-care can come in the shape of home-baked biscuits and a warming beverage. Give yourself a break in your working day to increase productivity and wellbeing. Schedule at least one point in your day to stop working. Allow at least 10 minutes. Move away from your desk and silence your phone. Plan your drink and snack ahead of time so you don't succumb to cravings, hasty decisions or disappointment. If you work as part of a team, plan your break with your colleagues. Enjoy your time together.

15.01.2022 Life's too short to spend time doing something you don't enjoy - but where does cleaning fit into that ethos? If the thought of the scrubbing brush is about as far from appealing as its possible to get, try this: put your favourite music on, turn it up as loud as you like, sing at the top of your lungs and dance your cares away as you clean. Result!

15.01.2022 Being constantly late puts you under a lot of unnecessary stress, and it can take its toll if it happens frequently enough. If you struggle to be punctual, then now is as good a time as any to try to change your ways.

15.01.2022 How do you start your day? Breathe reader @avoberrybowl shared her calming morning routine with us, and we're tempted to follow suit. "My favourite way to spend each morning is to sit outside with my morning coffee and read, listen to music and journal I've been reading the new issue of Breathe and it’s such a great way to relax. Even if it’s just reading one page a day, reading is a great way to start the day."

14.01.2022 Anger is one of the most powerful emotions and can be one of the most destructive, but is there a positive side to it?

12.01.2022 Steps to reducing food waste at home: WRITE IT DOWN - Make a shopping list before heading out and don't be tempted by so-called bargains. If it isn't on your list, you probably don't need it. IT'S NOT A BEAUTY COMPETITION - Don't be fooled by overly packaged, identically shaped and sized vegetables. That peculiar, knobbly carrot will taste just as good as its manicured neighbours. USE UP YOUR LEFTOVERS - Avoid the habit of throwing away leftovers. Leftover lunchtime salad looking a bit sad? Add a handful of seeds and blend it up to create an energising morning smoothie.

02.01.2022 We love hearing from our beautiful Breathe community and understanding the role Breathe plays in your lives. We really appreciated Breathe reader Tasha May sharing her thoughts and illustrations with us recently. 'Due to the pandemic, I have found my little family suddenly back in Australia after 11 years in Indonesia, which all happened so quickly and I don't know when we can get back to our home again. While this has been a stressful period, it has also been an opportunity to sit back, breathe, and get back to what I love, which is drawing. I really love the articles in your magazine and find the styling so peaceful and beautiful.' For more of her lovely illustrations check out @tashamay on Instagram
