24.01.2022 Email apnea a temporary absence or suspension of breathing, or shallow breathing, while doing email (Linda Stone, February 2008). Does this breathing pattern look familiar? While involved in a task do you often catch yourself holding your breath followed by a sigh and then rapid breathing to catch up? Awareness is the first step and don’t worry. 80% of us do this. Usually while looking at a screen hence the name email or screen apnea. The breath hold itself isn’t necessar...ily the issue. It’s the catch up breathing we do after that will throw out our balance of O2, CO2 and NO(nitric oxide). The catch up or faster breathing will also activate our sympathetic nervous system or stress response. How to best get around this? Sit up straighter while using a screen or even better use the screen less. When you catch yourself in the breath hold resume normal or even slow breathing instead faster catch up breathes. Breathing Mechanics is here to help. Send us a message if you’d like to lean more and get some practical advice and exercises to improve your breathing. . . . . . . . . . . . . #buteyko #buteykobreathing #oxygenadvantage #emailapnea #breathingexercises #apnea #stressrelief #stress #stressreliever #socialdilemma #workplacewellness See more

22.01.2022 The Nasal Cavity. What a masterpiece of evolution. Stay tuned to find out why. . . . .... . . #nose #nasalbreathing #buteykobreathing #oxygenadvantage #xptlife #breathingmechanics #breathe See more

21.01.2022 During a Qi Gong workshop the other day I heard a great analogy. Think of the breath like a waterfall. The breath in is like the water flowing down... and the breath out is like the steam rising back up. . . . .... . . #breathing #breathwork #breathe #waterfalls #lvnlifestyle #lvn #oxygenadvantage #buteykoclinic #functionalbreathing See more

21.01.2022 New research has shown changes in the activity and thickness of the abdominal muscles during breathing in patients with chronic lower back pain. In a study of 20 men with chronic lower back pain and 20 with no back pain, scientists reported that altered muscle activity may predispose the spine to further injuries. The researchers concluded that normalizing the breathing pattern should be considered in the management of people with non-specific chronic lower back pain (Arab e...t al.,2020). . . . . . . . . #oxygenadvantage #oxygenadvantageinstructor #breathingmechanics #performancebreathing #science See more
