21.01.2022 Today we will pause to remember the life of Sam McPaul, a volunteer from the Morven Brigade, who lost his life while protecting the community on this day last y...ear. Sam, a young father to be, was killed when a freak weather event flipped the fire truck he was on while battling fires in southern NSW. Commissioner Rob Rogers will today broadcast a message of support to volunteers in the area today, and they will hold a moment's silence to reflect. Tomorrow, we will also remember the passing of Colin Burns from the Belowra Brigade, who lost his life on New Years Eve last year. 25 people lost their lives last bush fire season - our most challenging fire season in our history. We remember all of them at this time of year. 13.01.2022 The heatwave expected this weekend has been upgraded to extreme. If a fire starts under these conditions fire behaviour can be erratic and unpredictable. Especially in the long grass and dried bush. Take extreme caution in all activities to minimise any source of ignition and know your bush fire survival plan. ... 07.01.2022 Yesterday marks the one year anniversary of the fatal aircraft accident that claimed the lives of Pilot-in-Command Captain (Lt Col) Ian McBeth, First Officer (Lt Col, Ret) Paul Clyde Hudson and Flight Engineer (SMSgt) Rick DeMorgan Jr. A moving memorial service was conducted yesterday at Peak View to honour the sacrifice these brave American Air Crewman made in helping at the Good Good Fire.

07.01.2022 We’ve secured a third Large Air Tanker (LAT), the second from our friends at NSW Rural Fire Service. The additional LAT arrived last night, ready to assist the ...two currently working hard to protect communities from above at the Wooroloo Bushfire. Yesterday, the two LATs already operational dropped a combined 165,000 litres of retardant. These retardant lines helped slow the spread of the fire last night, which was heading towards Shady Hills Estate. Gusty conditions overnight caused fire behaviour to escalate. This fire remains uncontrolled and uncontained, with a fire perimeter of 126km through tough terrain. There are 300 firefighters on the ground who are actively fighting the fire and working hard to put containment lines in place, supported by our aerial fleet. If you are in the warning areas, you need to stay up to date with the latest at www.emergency.wa.gov.au DFES Incident Photographer Aaron Cuthbert
