In to week 3 of programming working through a simple session order of activation/mobility, landings, nordics and full body strength. (1): Double leg jump to Single leg landings. (2): Nordic curls, aiming for 3 second eccentrics 2 x 5 reps. (3): Banded chins. ... Big fan of banded chins as an upper body strength staple. Try to avoid the assisted weight chins in the gym This example will progress you through to bodyweight chins much quicker as it forces you to squeeze your glutes and create greater intra-abdominal pressure. #strength #youth #athlete #netball

25.01.2022 Rotator Cuff warm ups Currently in the midst of the 21 day push up challenge to raise awareness and funds for mental health. 1094 down, 2034 to go In doing a large amount of pushing movements it’s important to give the correct rotator cuff activation prior to strength work. ... 2 exercises in video + technique tips: 1Y to Ws Keep hips, knees and ankles grounded so you’re not targeting your lower back muscles. Keep head neutral, chest on the floor, anterior deltoids off the floor. Squeeze rhomboids back and down when reaching W position (give a slight pause). 2 Kettlebell overhead rotation Keep kettlebell in bottoms up position to activate and challenge shoulder stabilisers. Keep eyes on the kettlebell and shoulder to wrist in a vertical line. Increase hip & knee flexion if struggling to activate after 8-10 reps. Quest for the chest continues..

16.01.2022 This term was fortunate enough to run a pilot Strength & Conditioning program for the Junior School athletes (Years 4-6) at Ravenswood School. 8 students who had represented at a Combined Independent Schools (CIS) level were hand picked to take part. Aim was to establish correct movement patterns, create a strength foundation and to reduce risk of injury in their sport of choice ... Along with following a curriculum, sessions involved plenty of interaction and enjoyment. Great to be part of a progressive program and showing that the gym can be a safe and beneficial environment for kids

Despite being full of cheek, these Under 12 Girls could play! Tallying up 40+ games over the season finding the back of the net 109 times.
