03.01.2022 After a great weekend away,it was sad to hear of an old friend back in NZ taking his own life,reflecting I remembered another old friend doing the same about 18months ago,in fact the amount of people be it aquantices, old friends,colleagues of my age group who have passed away most have been by suicide. How many guys do you know have taken their lives? How many of you cannot believe they could have felt that way? After a small bit of research it was alarming to see the figure...s on male suicide both in Australia and NZ, in fact the largest killer of males aged 15 to 44! 90% of us will have suicidal thoughts at some stage of our lives,thats a fact .I have and you probably have as well, the thing is you would never pick it, why? We are masters at not showing our real feelings,depression, anxiety,sadness,hurt,guilt etc we can mask with a smile a joke and a few beers,while been ground away on the inside. For some reason our ego would rather we put a noose around our neck and kick out the stool than ask for help,as asking is perceived as a sign of weakness?? Why do we think like that in this day and age? So if a mate,work colleague any of your family ever mention suicide or that they know someone who is thinking about suicide (quite possibly can be themselves) or showing distress , its not a time to blow it off with "it will be alright mate ,have another beer" or "harden up, get over it " its time to listen and ask " how can I help" #menshealth #suicide #anxiety #depression #advice #anger #mindset #change #Happy #fear #livelife #love
