25.01.2022 This Government's insulting wage freeze is just kisses on the cheek and a dagger in the heart.
24.01.2022 Nurse-to-patient ratios really do save lives! If you support ratios, sign this NSW Parliament ePetition today: http://bit.ly/ratiospetition
24.01.2022 The widespread problems at Blacktown Hospital have been well known by hospital management, yet they continued to exploit the goodwill of nurses and midwives and ignore the dire situation that is rife within maternity services - NSWNMA General Secretary Brett Holmes

22.01.2022 I was appalled by the news that another nurse had been assaulted and seriously injured while at work. No nurse or midwife goes to work expecting to be assaulted, yet the reality is that health workers face violence every day in their line of duty. We're continuing our campaign against workplace violence, and calling on the NSW Government to ensure adequate safety measures and security staff are in place to keep nurses and midwives safe. 22.01.2022 It's imperative that the NSW Government increases the nursing workforce to address the current elective surgery backlog.
21.01.2022 Congratulations to National Nurses United's Bonnie Castillo for making it onto Time magazine's 100 most influential people for 2020!
20.01.2022 Nurses and midwives do not walk off the job lightly. But rampant understaffing has had catastrophic effects on both patients and staff at Blacktown Hospital. We will ALWAYS put patient safety first. It's time Western Sydney Health did so too.
20.01.2022 It's clear that the health system in rural NSW needs some serious attention.
19.01.2022 Join me for this URGENT Facebook Live this Friday on the main NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association page.
19.01.2022 Yesterday's outcome is an absolute insult to every public sector nurse and midwife in our state.
18.01.2022 "This government has been exploiting the goodwill of nurses and midwives for too long" - NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association General Secretary Brett Holmes Our community is suffering under the yolk of rampant understaffing in our state's hospitals. It's time the NSW Government gave our hard-working health staff a helping hand, and delivered more nurses and midwives to help reduce the current surgery backlog.
17.01.2022 "There's inadequate staffing and inadequate resourcing" The people of rurla and regional NSW have been left out in the cold by this Government when it comes to healthcare. We're backing calls for an inquiry to help address these issues. Via 9 News Illawarra
14.01.2022 I'm live with Judith Kiejda to talk about the shocking wage freeze outcome from yesterday. You have a right to be angry. We will support you and your branches to take action against this insulting and unfair result.
13.01.2022 Rampant understaffing at Blacktown Hospital led to industrial action this week. Midwives and nurses want to ensure the safety of those in their care. It's time management at Western Sydney Health showed the same concern for the community that health workers do.
13.01.2022 Good quality jobs are imperative for high quality care. Aged Care workers and their residents deserve better from the Morrison Government. DEMAND action in aged care NOW: https://www.megaphone.org.au//we-demand-action-for-aged-ca
11.01.2022 Macquarie Hospital Branch of the NSWNMA has come out strongly to endorse the School Strike 4 Climate. It's important that the Government invests in healthcare, not gas!
08.01.2022 Healthscope is trying to run away from its commitment to providing safe patient care on the Northern Beaches.
06.01.2022 Our children deserve the very best healthcare. Having nurse-to-patient ratios in NSW hospitals will improve health outcomes in paediatrics and emergency departments. Sign our petition for nurse-to-patient ratios today: http://bit.ly/ratiospetition
05.01.2022 Midwives will ALWAYS put the safety of mothers and babies first. Western Sydney Health needs to respond by providing adequate staffing to address the concerns of trusted health professionals.
05.01.2022 This is a potential game changer for our rural and regional members. Your NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association will continue to advocate for quality health services across New South Wales, including for safe staffing and adequate resourcing. You can read more about it here: https://www.abc.net.au//parliamentary-inquiry-int/12667932
05.01.2022 A university study has found that legally enforceable nurse-to-patient ratios reduce the incidences of needlestick injuries, and back and shoulder complaints, from nursing staff.
02.01.2022 This is yet another example of what nurses and midwives are having to put up with, while juggling the response to COVID-19, and all the while being told they’re not worthy of a 2.5 per cent wage increase. It’s a disgrace.
01.01.2022 According to the Berejiklian Government, you and your colleagues are ONLY WORTH 0.3%. It's an insult to every nurse and midwife, from a Government that clearly doesn't value health workers or their professions.
