20.01.2022 When it comes to nailing your home's lighting plan its easy to become quickly overwhelmed by the many different terms that you'll come across. For the most part, lighting categories are based on their position or usage with options ranging from wall-mounted to the various kinds of floor and table lamps, as well as the broad category of task lighting. To help you illuminate your home and optimise your lighting, here are the 7 most common types of lighting you'll come across and how to use them... https://www.homestolove.com.au/home-lighting-10158 courtesy of Homes To Love

19.01.2022 Before putting up your Christmas lights this year, make sure you do a thorough check to ensure they are in good working order, have no crooked or missing globes and no fraying wires. CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington warned last year that electrical fires were among the top causes of house fires each year, but could easily be avoided by establishing some simple safety measures. It's also important to not overload power boards and adaptors and choose lights which meet the A...ustralian Safety Standards. If you need me to check over your festive lights, call me on 0408573273

17.01.2022 Rats can they really cause a house fire? Rats and mice are rarely welcome visitors in anyone’s home. But at this time of year, especially after there’s been a lot of rain, they can take up residence in your house seeking shelter from the elements. Apart from the obvious unpleasantness that rodents can cause inside the home, there is also the possibility they can cause home fire hazards. Rats and mice like to chew on just about anything, they actually HAVE to constantly chew... to wear down their front teeth which don’t stop growing. It’s no wonder they have a field day in your wall and roof cavities! Any exposed wiring or cables around your home are considered a delicacy for the common rodent. Once the protective insulation has been chewed off a power cable, you are left with exposed, live wires carrying electricity around your home. It doesn’t take much for these wires to turn into a spark or flame, and you’ve got a serious problem on your hands! Please make sure you have rate and mice control mechanisms in place in your home, and if you have any concerns that there may be damage to your wiring, please give us a call. 0408 573 273

16.01.2022 The number of DIYers tackling jobs around the house is on the rise with the current COVID-19 pandemic and so is the dodgy handiwork having to be fixed by tradies. Don't be one of those people who puts themselves at risk of electrocution or of burning their house down, always use a licensed electrician. https://www.domain.com.au//diy-disasters-are-on-the-rise-/ #electricianlife #electrician #sparky #electricians #supportlocal #smallbusiness #electricalwork #tradesman #tradie #electrical #electricalsafety #macedonranges #supportsmallbusiness

13.01.2022 Do you have ceiling fans installed in your home? Ceiling fans can reduce energy bills and keep you and your family at a comfortable temperature all year round. 'Even in winter?' I hear you say. Yes. Most ceiling fans have a summer and winter mode, enabling you to switch the direction the blades spin depending on the season. When you run your heating in winter, it's quite likely the top third of your room could be sitting at 27 degrees, the middle third at 22 degrees, and the ...bottom third (where we generally spend all our time) at 18 degrees. By switching your fan to clockwise, you create an updraft and push the warm air back down towards the floor via the walls, which then leads to a more evenly distributed temperature throughout the room - much more comfortable for you and your family! This can save up to 15% on heating costs and reduce the need for other heaters, heating blankets, etc that can just create extra clutter and additional electrical hazards. Installing ceiling fans is one of the most cost effective ways to reduce the energy consumption in your home. If you're interested in learning more, give Brett a call 0408 573 273.
