17.01.2022 You know there's something special inside when the box comes compete with opening instructions printed on the outside! The Brett Whiteley Catalogue Raisonné, published by Schwartz City, is almost here and we've got a little sneak peek for you. This is an epic publication and nothing has been overlooked. The seven volumes are suspended in the slipcase, allowing just enough room to get your fingers in and remove the volumes. Volume 2 holds two giant foldouts. When fully extended it is more than 7m long to reproduce both 'Alchemy' and 'The American Dream'. The foldouts are bound in and each has its own internal hardcover held in place by magnets, so they don't fall out when you first open. Each edition is numbered 1 to 1,000 and weighs 23 kgs. We can't wait to get our hands on a copy!

12.01.2022 Have you heard the news? In line with decisions made by the National Cabinet as communicated by the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, the Brett Whiteley Studio is currently closed but will reopen to the public on June 4. We will be observing strict social distancing and hygiene measures to protect the health of all visitors and staff and minimise the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the State. We hope to shortly announce new dates for the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Schol...arship, which has been postponed until later in the year, and we're also in the process of planning other programs we can host while social distancing measures are in place. As a state institution we will continue to be guided by the National Cabinet and our Premier based on expert public health advice. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

01.01.2022 The Gallery and the Brett Whiteley Studio are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship. In years p...ast the annual $40,000 scholarship has been awarded to a young Australian painter aged between 20 and 30 years and has included a 3-month residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Due to COVID-19 international travel restrictions, this is unable to be offered this year. Instead, the scholarship will be awarded to a total of 5 young artists who will each be offered a 2-week residency, from 1629 Nov 2020, at the Shark Island Institute Kangaroo Valley, in regional NSW. Each of the 5 artists will also receive $10,000. During the residency, the artists will be offered a mentoring session by Ben Quilty, a former recipient of the scholarship, as well as visits by other prominent arts figures in the industry. Applications open until Friday 31 July: https://bit.ly/2rHGMnH The residency made possible thanks to the Shark Island Institute and the Brett Whiteley Foundation. : 'Brett Whiteley: Feathers and Flight' now showing at Brett Whiteley Studio.
